Netaji Subhash Engineering College was established in 1998. The college is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology since 2002 and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It offers Undergraduate & Postgraduate courses in Engineering and professional courses in Business Administration and Computer Application

  • Students of the NSEC participate in various competitions like Techfest organized by Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, etc.
  • Phoenix, the official Tech Club- In Phoenix, seven students from the college formed a club that would think beyond the academic courses that everyone studies in the college. Phoenix holds forums. Presently they are The C Forum, The Robotix Forum, The SSPD forum, and the Web Designing Forum. "Come, Let's Rise", is the motto of the club
  • Wiki Academy- The first Wiki Academy of Kolkata was set up at the college in collaboration with Wikimedia Foundation, India. The event witnessed large-scale participation of students from colleges and universities
  • Nixal- The GNU/Linux user group was formed to learn about and contribute to GNU/Linux and spread the message of free software movement. The group follows Open Source Software ethic


The college library has a rich collection of books. It has 74170 books, 21 magazines, and 19 journals


  • Blossoms- This is an event organized to welcome the fresher
  • Mesmerizer- This is the annual cultural fest of the college sponsored by companies like IBM, Wipro, NIIT, Air India, Coca-Cola, and Hero-Honda. The cultural program is a mixture of rock and classical music
  • Avenir- It is the annual tech fest and one of the earliest Tech Fests of Kolkata was set up with help from Kshitij of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur
