Silicon Institute of Technology is a private institution and was established in 2001 under the affiliation of Utkal University. Then in the year 2002, the institution came under the affiliation of Biju Patnaik University of Technology. Admissions to the Silicon Institute of Technology are done through the counseling conducted by the Odisha Government based on the entrance examinations merits. Admissions for the first year B. Tech. courses are carried out based on the JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination). Students are admitted based on the marks they secure in this exam.
