Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Commonly referred to as Sir MVIT) ,Bangalore was established in 1986  is an Institute of repute in the state of Karnataka. The Institute is named after Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya a well known Engineer, Statesman and a former Diwan of Mysore. This institute was founded and established by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust and offers programs in the field of Technical Education

  • The institute has 2800 students & over 260 well-experienced faculty members. The institute has been Ranked No. 1 among the Engineering Colleges in the Karnataka State by the reputed magazine 'Dataquest'.
  • It is also ranked under top 25 engineering colleges of India and rated AAA amongst India’s Best Engineering Colleges.
  • The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (V.T.U) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. Sir M.V.I.T is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Institution.

Research & Development Cell:-

The Research and Development Cell is headed by a Director assisted by a team of experienced and qualified staff to undertake Research and Development work. An active and healthy interaction between the institute and the industries is ensured through the following:

  • Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Bio-Technology are declared as R & D centres by Visvesvaraya Technological University.
  • Many scholars are engaged in research, leading to Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Engg.) degrees.
  • Several funded R & D projects have been completed.
  • R & D projects funded by AICTE, AR&DB, UGC, DST, Ministry of Power , etc,. are being executed.

  • In Companies like CUMMINS, CATERPILLAR, QUEST GLOBAL, CAPARO, L&T & NCC URBAN etc with package as high as 6.5 lakhs & 4.6 lakhs per annum
  • 313 Students picked up by COGNIZANT during 2011 batch
  • WIPRO Technologies visited to college 2 times for recruitment of 2010 batch students. On their first visit on 5/6/2010, the company picked up 84 students & second time they visited on 21/8/2010 for left over students..
  • 19 MCA students got selected under “Internship cum placement package” by Aricent, Fidelity, Cerner & Accenture through campus recruitment drives of our placement cell in 2010-2011. During internship these students will get stipend ranging between 5000/ to 20000/ per month..
  • 37 CIVIL students got placed in L&T & 12 in NCC urban in campus interview conducted in our college.

Placements Report 2013:-

The campus recruitment in respect of 2012 June graduated students was concluded with 1159 offers to 684 placed students(99.57% placement with 475 students holding multiple offers) in 27 top IT & NON IT companies.

Library:-

The library is fully automated. At present the library has 59,040 volumes, 17,000 titles of books, about 950 back volumes of scientific and technical journals, 268 video cassettes, and 1050 CD/DVD’s. There are 85 hard copies of the journals. The library also subscribes to IEEE / IEE Electronic Library, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Springer Link E-Resources through INDEST – AICTE Consortium.The library is housed in a spacious block with an area of 1400.8 sqm spread over two floors.

Health Care:

A 100 bed Hospital named Krishnadevaraya Hospital and Research Centre is located in the campus.
