Ques. GIM or TAPMI: Which one is better for marketing and why?
● Top Answer By Janvi Sheth on 22 Apr 21
Ans.When we talk about a particular field in any college it is like choosing the best fruit among others. But when it comes to marketing it is something that is in demand due to the highly digital surge. Now, whether choosing marketing to pursue from GIM or TAPMI let me make it easy for you.
In GIM, marketing is much better as its course structure is designed for a specialized simulation game in Marketing, namely Markstrat. In the past, GIM also has received accolades for its curriculum designed for Marketing.
TAPMI and GIM are close and can be compared in so many things. Such as Rankings, placements, roles offered, infrastructure, etc. given below:
NIRF Ranking (Overall)
Genpact, Godrej, Boyce Co LTD, GTL and Hindustan Unilever, and many.
Deloitte, Grant Thornton, HDFC, ICICI, EY, Wipro, Magic bricks and many.
INR 25.6 LPA
INR 25 LPA
However, as GIM has a smaller batch size, it defines a very important parameter to choose a college. Both of these colleges will provide you with equal opportunities. But GIM as an add-on will provide you a better campus life.
The marketing department of GIM also represents some wonderful faculties from all over the country. Some have Industry experience for over 10 years. The tricks and tips they give about practical marketing won't be found in any book.

XAT, GMAT, CAT
BMW, JP Morgan, Reliance, etc.
This completely depends upon your growth in the college and therefore, the numbers might differ. The fee structure is around 17.21 lakhs. But if you look at it through the ROI perspective, it does not look good.
If it is considered that a student is shortlisted and feels that they can perform better if they give the Entrance exams one more time, then they should take a drop year. But if a student feels that they are confident enough to grow at GIM, then they can opt for it.Read more
GIM offers a two years PGDM course. Its term fee is in the range of 2,75,000-3,50,000. For the PGDM (IT) the fee structure is INR 8.8 lakhs. Moreover, the institute offers many scholarships and financial assistance to the needy and deserving students based on merit and eligibility criteria.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum of the PGDM programme has been designed to enable the students to be industry ready and future-ready. Most of the concepts require physical and practical knowledge so the institute allows the students to visit the industries and recieve knowledge about various things. Most of the faculty members of the institute are highly qualified and experts in their respective domains. They teach the course concepts in a clear and detailed way.
The total program fee of PGDM- BDA at GIM is INR 17.21 lacs, and the tuition fee of INR 16.66 lacs is included within it. The institute offered different kinds of scholarships to the deserving students on academic performance basis. Tuition fee waiver benefit was provided to 5% of the total students under specific criterias.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The increasing demand and my interest in data analysis was the reason why I opted for BDA specialisation of PGDM program. There are 65+ full time faculty members in the faculty team of the institute, providing the best of education to their students. The duration of the program is 2 years and it includes the inclusion of different fields of management studies
My annual tuition fee of PGDM was 8,10,000 INR. Apart from that my admission fees was around 55,000 INR. Also there were some additional miscellaneous charges mandatory to be paid by each scholar. Cost to study here was literally value for money. Because of having average marks in my selection criteria, I didn't get 4 lakh scholarship which was available for the top scorers.
Course Curriculum Overview :
My course duration was of four semesters, and it comprised of a judicious mix of core and elective courses. In the first year, I had participated in the unique "Give Goa project" that helped me to become more socially aware and responsible towards the broader good of society. I pursued the Summer Internship Project (SIP) spread over 8 to 10 weeks in the end of my first year. For me my internship worked like bridging the gap between institutional delivery of knowledge and contemporary organizational practices. Coming to my examination process then apart from my main end term examination, I had to score well in class participation, term papers, mid term tests, and surprise quizzes, etc.
The fee structure for PGDM is 11.1 lakh for two years excluding hostel fee. Moreover, yes, the our college has scholarship scheme of 4 lakh to 40 students. But unfortunately, I did not avail the scholarship. And yes, our college also provide loan to the needy students through Bank of India where loan up to Rs. 10 lakh is given. Also, State Bank of India and HDFC Bank provide loans to the financially weaker students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum comprises of six terms. Moreover, after completing the first year exam, we are allowed for summer internship for 8-10 weeks. Apart from that, we also get project and that helps us in becoming socially aware and responsible towards the society. Also, more than delivering the bookish knowledge, our faculty tries to make us learn the contemporary organizational practices. Our faculty enhances the managerial skills, soft skills and monitor our progress throughout the program.
To study PGDM program at GIM Goa, I had to pay INR 8 lacs for each year, so the program cost me around INR 16 lacs. Fees are slightly costlier compared to other institutes in the same league but an experience of GIM Goa. Other than this, the institute also offers financial support and scholarships to needy and deserving students on the basis of merit and eligibility.
Course Curriculum Overview :
A rigorous curriculum and an excellent opportunity to be part of student clubs where I got to learn and experience a lot of things. It was a good mix of regular lectures, case studies, field trips, real-time assignment and we also got to work with professors. But to be frank the curriculum at any B-School is more or less the same, it?Ûªs the faculties that make a difference and the faculty department here was top-notch.
