Management aspirants targeting Odisha and eastern India frequently compare KSOM with XIM University (XIMB), Bhubaneswar and IIM Sambalpur. All three are recognised MBA programmes in Odisha, with different fee levels, NIRF ranks, and institutional profiles.

IIM Sambalpur and XIMB both carry higher NIRF ranks and higher average CTCs than KSOM, making them the first choices for competitive MBA candidates in the region. KSOM’s competitive advantages include its NAAC A++ institutional accreditation (KIIT as IoE), the all-inclusive residential fee model, a broader range of accepted entrance exams (CMAT, MAT, KIITEE), and a placement rate close to 100 percent. KSOM is the strongest choice for candidates who prefer an Odisha-based residential MBA without the extremely high CAT cutoffs of IIM Sambalpur or XIMB.

KIIT School of Management Bhubaneswar: 6 Answered Questions

How is KIIT SOM for an MBA or PGDM?

Kirti Dasstudied at KIIT SOM

One of my friends is a student at the KIIT School of Management. According to him, studying at KIIT SOM is worth your money and time. Apart from Sales and Marketing profiles, KSOM offers jobs for other profiles too. My friend got a job at GEP as a purchasing analyst and the reason for his success in the interview was that he chose his second specialization as analytics.

The average package offered ranges between 6-6.5 LPA. The package offered can go as high as 8.5-12 LPA. Both the faculty and infrastructure at KSOM are very good. The students are provided with every facility. More than 51 companies visited the campus during my friend’s placement.

It depends more on you, on the amount of work you are willing to put in.KSOM offers the students an understanding of what is beyond the technical aspects of a business. For students who are open to working harder and smarter, are focused, and are open to new experiences, KSOM is the right place.

How good is KIIT school of management at Bhubaneswar?

Anushka DasMBA Marketing & Human Resources, KIIT School of Management (2018)

KIIT School of Management at Bhubaneswar boasts of having the most vibrant campus in all of KIIT University.

The faculty is so supportive that they will make you feel at home. They will enthusiastically help you if you are having problems. My friend from school completed his BBA from the institute and in his opinion; it is the most active campus currently in Bhubaneswar.

KIIT School of Management has an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It falls under the 39 best B-schools in India and is in the top 6 in Eastern India. Scores of XAT, GMAT, CAT, MAT and ATMA are accepted for admission. In addition to these, the institute also offers dual specialization to its students.

How is KSOM Bhubaneswar?

Shalini MitraStudied MBA from KIIT School of Management (2019)

One of my friends was a student of this institute, and he told me that it is one of the worst institutes he has ever seen in his life.

The college administration is always focused on the NIRF ranking, which is 30, and how the Indian Ranking System is known to all. The teachers are fierce and don’t have a basic sense to behave with the student.

  • My friend told me that there was a teacher, namely Abhishek Kumar, and if the student doesn’t call me Dr, then the student is gone. He demanded respect and wanted everyone to respect him anyhow. Even the staff were also talked behind him.
  • He gave me another example of Mr. Jitendra Mohanty. He was one of this institute's unassuming people; he did not have a basic sense to respect his fellow students. He was the placement head, but he did not do anything to bring proper placement in this institute.
  • Another one is Mrs. Gargi Banerjee, and she was the most biased teacher of this institute.
  • Lastly, Mrs. Saptorshi Das was known as “The Oxford Women”. She always judged the student’s English, as she thought that she knows everything from the dictionary.

KSOM is one of the worst institutes, but if you are interested in doing MBA from this institute, then it still worth it, as college administration charges only 12LPA for MBA studied, including tuition fees and hostel (AC). But if you want to do BBA, then it is better to choose some other institute rather than KSOM because they charge 16 LPA for BBA studies, which is seriously worthless. Apart from this food, canteen, hostel, infrastructure and campus are pretty good.
