Course Curriculum Overview

10/10

The Course Curriculum is well designed keeping all aspects in mind. Information Management is a demanding domain in the market currently. 1:4 faculty-student ratio case-based pedagogy and practical/real-world applications focus is more on learning than the exams

Remarks

Top 5 B-schools in the country. Strong focus on the holistic development of an individual. Global program immersion with social sensitiveness. The admissions process left me amazed me and I wanted to join the institute as soon as it got over. The better brand name among other private B-schools, smaller batch strength, Mumbai advantage, and niche specialization offered in Information Management,

Remarks

The MBA from SPJIMR literally changed my career for good. SPJIMR is the first B-School in the region. The infrastructure is good, the faculty is also good. One of the key highlights of SPJIMR was the placement. It has been an exploratory journey. I would definitely recommend the SPJIMR college for management studies.

My master's journey at the SPJIMR was not what I expected, but it was a good adventure, nevertheless. The college has a good placement record from which I benefitted. Teaching is also good. SPJIMR is definitely a good choice for masters at a reasonable price in the Pune region.

Ques. I would like to work abroad (in Canada) after MBA. What should I choose between IIM Indore and SPJIMR?

● Top Answer By Suruchi Gupta on 04 Feb 21

Ans. SPJIMR is one of the best leading business schools in India and was ranked 18th by the NIRF in the management category. The college has international offers as well as offers from the Big Four Consulting firms every year. For the year 2019, the college witnessed 12 international offers made to their students. The college also sees the participation of major internationally-based consulting companies who deal with US-based clients, which means your work might involve travelling to international locations where the clients are based. As far as working abroad after MBA is concerned, the best way to determine your future prospects would be to look up the current designation and location of the alumni of these colleges. Tabulated below is a brief overview of both institutions: Categories SPJIMR IIM Indore Course Fee 17.5 lakh 15.01 lakh Placement Percentage 100% 100% Highest CTC 51 LPA 50 LPA Average CTC 26.36 LPA 22.92 LPA Recruiting Companies Accenture Strategy, Adani, Amazon, Airtel, Bank of America. Hindustan Unilever, Google, Aditya Birla, Godrej. SPJIMR has an extensive alumni network and you can start with some of these LinkedIn profiles like Ajit K Velankar, Sreevatsa Kikkeri, Pankaj Rathi, Raghuram S. Bhat and Mahesh Rupanagudi; they are all ex-students of SPJIMR in leadership positions.  It is also important to learn from your peers in business school so you should check out the previous year and current batch profiles; you will notice how diverse the profiles are even when the background is similar.  It is vital you do your research before deciding on a business school; hopefully, this answer will help you.Read more

Ques. Which is better for Marketing: SPJIMR or IIM Indore?

● Top Answer By Jyotshna Ranjan on 04 Feb 21

Ans. Both are average universities; SP Jain alumni will encourage you to join SP Jain while IIM Indore ex-students will do the same and boast about its reputation. But, in reality, there is no real difference. A graduate of Goa Institute of Management is the same as a graduate from IIM Lucknow to most major companies.  The following table gives a brief overview of both institutes: Categories SPJIMR IIM Indore Course Fee 17.5 lakh 16.1 lakh Placement Percentage 100% 100% Highest CTC 51 LPA 50 LPA Average CTC 26.36 LPA 22.92 LPA Recruiting Companies Accenture Strategy, Adani, Amazon, Airtel, Bank of America. Hindustan Unilever, Google, Aditya Birla, Godrej. When it comes to placements, SP Jain has good placement records and has some of the top recruiters annually visiting the campus but then again, the same companies most likely visit IIM Indore as well. There are exceptions; a few in the FMCG category and an important recruiter for group strategy hiring.  Now, getting back to a comparison between SPJIMR and IIM Indore. SPJIMR is a great business school and offers well- developed academic programmes whereas IIM Indore is somewhat losing its polish especially when their batch sizes are growing tremendously every year. Thus, SPJIMR might be a safer bet than IIM Indore. However, there are advantages of studying at IIM Indore especially in terms of placements and faculty: The recruiter list at IIM Indore is exhaustive and impressive due to its reputation. There are companies like Deutsche Bank that recruit exclusively from IIM Indore. Mckinsey and Company do batch day hiring while JP Morgan hires in large numbers for certain essential roles.  They also have several flagship roles offered by all the big companies in categories like FMCG, Retail, Telecommunications and Media.  For marketing, the competition at IIM Indore is fierce; you really must stand out if you wish to be considered. IIM Indore has a fantastic faculty; the college gets its orientation and inspiration from IIM Ahmedabad.  Deciding a business school is tough and a major decision, so hopefully this comparison will help you decide what is best for you.Read more

Ques. Which is better between SPJIMR Finance and IIM Lucknow? Why is SP Jain always compared to IIM Indore, Kozhikode but not IIM Lucknow?

● Top Answer By Supriya Sarkar on 02 Feb 21

Ans. When given the opportunity of choosing between SPJIMR Finance and IIM Lucknow many students simply opt for IIM Lucknow. The reason behind this is pretty simple and that is the appeal that comes along with the IIM tag. Also, there is a small issue with SPJIMR that is, the students need to choose their specialization while applying before joining itself. While this might seem fine for a few who are determined what they need to choose, unlike many. Many of the students are not clear on what to choose and end up playing safe by going with IS or operations based on their work experience. Some even apply for Marketing or Finance without knowing what they’ll be doing after their MBA. Generally figuring out the specialization is a tedious task that requires a lot of information and decision making. It can be figured out after doing common courses and electives in the 1st year. Then you can opt for your specialization based on your interests. Thus, IIM Lucknow might have an advantage for many compared to SPJIMR. Placements wise too SPJIMR Finance offers better roles in reputed organizations that are comparable to IIM Lucknow. The placement data for the 2020 batch are as follows, College No. of students No. of Recruiters Highest Package Average Package Median Package IIM Lucknow 443 140 54 LPA 24.25 LPA 23 LPA SPJIMR 238 122 51 LPA 26.36 LPA 25 LPA Considering all the facts one can opt for IIM Lucknow over SPJIMR Mumbai due to the flexibility and the value it offers with its MBA program.Read more

Ques. NMIMS vs. SPJIMR, which is a better B-school?

● Top Answer By Karan Luthra on 12 Jan 21

Ans. There are some points to be kept in mind while selecting a B-school. You have to consider important facts like the course fees, the return of investment, location of the college, and the collaborations the college has with corporate houses, etc. Studying here i can provide you the following points to give you a better picture of NMIMS -  School Cadre: Talking and learning about the college environment from alumni is a good way to figure out about that particular college. They will give you sufficient pros and cons and a detailed insight of the institute. Batch Size: Batch size matters when you sit down and compete for placement. The smaller the batch size, the greater the chance of getting placed. Fees: The fees are an important factor in choosing a B-school. As in the past few years, there has been an increase of 2% in fees and 25% in salary packages. The exact placement package mentioned by the institute is not always offered, so it is always advisable to look and invest in colleges with a profit return. Faculty and Curriculum: Most of the B-schools in India like IIM, NMIMS, ISB, use Harvard Business curriculum. It is better to learn about the faculty of the college before joining it. Location of the College: The college location plays an important role in the exposure you get. If it's located nearer the city, it is possible that you will get industry expansion, internship and placement with big companies. Colleges having collaboration with companies like Wipro, etc. can provide direct industry training. Unlike SPJIMR, NMIMS has a huge concern about their batch size. But the total fee at NMIMS is 11.5 lakh including food and accommodation. Whereas SPJIMR costs 16.5 lakh including food and accommodation.Read more
