Established on August 1, 1963, the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) Mysuru (formerly Regional College of Education) is a self-financed Public constituent institution of NCERT, New Delhi and is located at Mysore city of Karnataka state and is fully affiliated to the University of Mysore. The college is providing Integrated, Undergraduates and Postgraduates level courses which are approved by National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).
The Regional Institute main objective is a qualitative improvement of school education through innovative pre-service and in-service teacher training programs and relevant research, development and extension activities. The school serves as an epicenter for trying out new and innovative strategies in curriculum and pedagogy.

The constituent courses under the college curriculum are such as Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed., Integrated M.Sc.Ed., Integrated B.A.B.Ed., B.Ed., M.Ed., and DCGC - a Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling. There is a Research level Ph.D. program also available under the curriculum of the college strictly as per the guidelines of the University of Mysore.
