It was the ardent zeal for advancement of higher education that prompted the people of South Bankura to establish Khatra College in 1976 which was later named as Khatra Adibasi Mahavidyalaya. It offers undergraduate degrees in Arts, Science and Commerce. It is affiliated to Bankura University.

Khatra Adibasi Mahavidyalaya is accredited and was awarded a C+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Khatra Adibasi Mahavidyalaya Admission Eligibility

Applicants passed in Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board / Council other than WBCHSE are eligible for 1st-year BA/B.Sc/B.Com (Honours/General/Major) Courses Admission. 

All candidates who have obtained at least 45% marks in 10+2 examination are eligible to apply for the Honours Degree Course. 

For SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled candidates category marks shall be as rules of State Govt. & University. 

Only students who have passed with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the class XII level are eligible for admission to B.Sc Honours Course in Economics. The candidates who have passed the Vocational course at 10+2 examination are eligible for admission to BA (General).
