PSR Engineering College Admission 2019: PG Admission, Cut Off

PSR Engineering College (PSREC) is a self-financing autonomous institution imparting quality education in the fields of Engineering and Management. It was established in 1998 in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

PSR Engineering College offers B.E. programs in six disciplines and five M.E. programs, including an MBA programs with 4 specializations. The All the courses offered by the institute are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The total intake for the B.E./ B.Tech programs in 570 seats per batch. A total of 90 seats have been approved for the ME programs, and 60 seats for MBA.

  • Eligible candidates have to apply for TNEA and TANCA counselling for admission to B.E. and M.E./MBA respectively.
  • To be eligible for B.E., candidates should have passed 10+2 with PCM as subjects.
  • Selection will be through state-level counselling TNEA.
  • Minimum eligibility for PG courses is to pass Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • Selection of GATE candidates is through TANCA counselling and are given the first preference for admission to the M.E. programs.
  • MBA candidates are selected on the basis of TANCET score only.
  • No other CET score is accepted for TANCA counselling for MBA candidates.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ ST) are allowed 10% relaxation in the minimum marks eligibility criteria.
  • OBC candidates (including Muslims) are allowed only 5% relaxation.
  • Reservation is provided as per Anna University and TN state govt. norms.

College offers 5 B.E. courses including a B. Tech program in the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Biotechnology.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to B.E./ B. Tech programs is a pass in HSC or equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together. Selection of candidates for the B.E/ B. Tech programs is done on the basis of 10+2 marks through TNEA counselling.

PSR Engineering College M.E. and MBA Admission 2019

The institute features five M.E. specializations viz. CSE, Applied Electronics, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, and Engineering Design. The MBA program offered by the institute is offered with specialization in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Operation/ Production and Systems.

Candidates seeking admission to M.E. courses must at least have a B.E./ B. Tech degree in the relevant or allied discipline with 50% marks. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for MBA program provided he/ she has secured a minimum of 50% marks in the last qualifying exam.

Prospective candidates may apply for TANCET (entrance test) and partake in its respective counselling, which is also known as TANCA. M.E. candidates with a valid GATE score are also allowed to participate in TANCA counselling provided they meet the eligibility criteria pre-specified by the University. GATE candidates are not required to take TANCET.

Key Points for Admission:

  • Candidates with B.E./ B. Tech. degree obtained through Distance/ weekend mode are not eligible to apply for M.E. programs.
  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 and have an AMIE (section ‘A’ & ‘B’) certification / 10th pass candidates with a 3-year diploma with AMIE ((section ‘A’ & ‘B’) certification are eligible to apply for the MBA program.

PSR Engineering College Application Process 2019

PSR Engineering College accepts admissions for its government quota seats through TNEA and TANCA counselling conducted by Anna University, Chennai. Candidates seeking admission under management quota can directly apply through the institute level application process, which involves collecting the application form in person by paying the prescribed application fee, and submitting the same in person.

The application process through TNEA/ TANCA is as follows:

  • Candidates may apply for TNEA/ TANCA counselling by visiting the Anna University website and filling the online application/ registration form.
  • The prescribed application fee for TNEA/ TANCA counselling can be paid online through various payment modes such as credit/ debit card, internet banking etc.
  • Candidates must take a printout of the complete application form and send a copy of the same to the Director (Admissions), Anna University.
  • After declaration of the merit list, candidates must download the counselling call letter and visit the counselling venue on the assigned dates along with all relevant documents (original and photocopies) and a demand draft of INR 5000.
  • Candidates are required to obtain a counselling form from the bank counters by showing his/her call letter and DD of the prescribed counselling fee.
  • After that, in the supervision of a counsellor, candidates can choose college and course preferences
  • Candidate is then offered an allotment order which needs to be signed by the applicant and the demand draft for counselling fee be submitted in order to complete the allotment process.
  • Subsequently, candidate must report at the college and submit the allotment order to confirm his/her admission.
