Vidya Academy of Science and Technology in Kerala is approved by the AICTE. The institute is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. It is part of the Vidya International Charitable Trust.

VAST Thrissur Courses

VAST Thrissur offers 3 full-time courses. Following are the details of the courses:

Selection criteria: Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical exam or JEE
Specializations: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering
M.Tech.Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: 60 percent in Engineering exam for government quota; 55 percent for management quota
Specializations: Power Electronics, Computer Science & Engineering, Structural Engineering, Embedded Systems
Selection criteria: GATE exam 
MCADuration: 2 years
Eligibility: 50percent in BCA or BSc
Selection criteria: MCA entrance exam

The institute also accepts Lateral entry in B.Tech program.

VAST Thrissur Admissions

Admissions to B.Tech are based on the KEAM entrance exam. 

Students are selected for B.Tech lateral based on the ranks secured by them in Lateral Entry Test (LET). 

For admissions in M.Tech, students must have appeared and qualified in GATE examination.

Admissions to MCA are accepted based on Marks obtained by the student in MCA Entrance Exam of Kerala. 

Apart from direct admission, the college admits students laterally and has a set of seats left for those availing fee waiver. 

How to Apply?

  • Fill the online application form available on the website. 
  • Pay the application fee of INR 500./- online. 
  • Appear for the required entrance exams and keep the scores handy. 
  • When the college declares the merit list, go for admission with entrance scores and exam results of 10+2 and degree for postgraduate candidates.

VAST Thrissur Placements

The institute BAST Thrissur has a training and placement cell to prepare the students for specific job roles. 

Mr. Paul J. Chakola is the Head of the Training and Placement Department. Statistics showing that 184 students were placed from the batch of 2020. While 241 offers were made. 

The Institute industry tie-up range is over 110. Wipro, Infosys, ICICI Bank, IBM, TCS Ltd, Coca Cola, Amazon, and Byzu's are some of the top industrial tie-ups.

Hostel: The college has hostel facilities for both boys and girls. 400 girls and 20 boys can be accommodated. Students have to pay 8000 as a one-time payment and 4500 for mess each month. 

  • Online Classes: The college has the facility to provide its students with online lessons as well.
  • Training and Placement: The college has tied up with Infosys for placements ad is accredited by TCS. TCS, Wipro and other companies come to campus for recruitment. 
  • Extracurricular activities: The institute has a gym, playground and a music club to provide students recreation.

Ques. Does the college allow cancellation of admission?

Ans. Cancellation is allowed but processing charges and liquidation damage will be cut.

Ques. Does the college provide a fee concession?

Ans. Fee concession is as per government rules. SC, ST candidates are eligible for fee concession.

Ques. Does the college have a research and development cell?

Ans. As an important step for achieving excellence in Engineering education, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has established a Research Development and Consultancy Cell in the college. Consultancy work is being taken up utilizing the idle capacity of laboratories and other infrastructure. Extension work will be taken up in a big way to fulfill the social commitment of the institution. Students trained in VAST, through their active participation in research and consultancy will be exposed to field problems so that they will be more confident to take up challenging jobs in their career. Involvement in the developmental activities of the country will enable VAST to fulfil its social obligations. The transformation of VAST into a full-fledged Deemed Technological University would be made easier by the successful activities of the Research, Development and Consultancy Cell.

Ques. What scholarships are available for students?

Ans. There are a number of scholarships available for those from economically weak backgrounds. These scholarships are for BTech students.

Ques. What does the green club do?

Ans. A 'GREEN CLUB' has been formed with the intention to popularize the use of bicycles amongst the staff and students of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology. Apart from helping to reduce pollution, it provides an excellent form of exercise, which is much needed in our present day life styles. Cycles are kept at various centres from wherein the members can draw, use and deposit them at their convenience. The intention of the club is to promote clean environment, health, spread the concept of good health and maximize the users. The membership fees is a meagre Rs 100/- for a year. The drive has been an unprecedented success.

    Very good. faculty and good class rooms. As per KTU every saturdays is a holiday. But in our college this is not followed. They have classes on first and third saturday. Sometimes even on second and fourth. This is so hard for some student who is staying in hostel. This has to change.
