Internships Opportunities :

Being just a 9 month course most students are placed by the end of the course, hence no intern-ships as such. But yes for students who don't get jobs intern-ships are provided. There is no or very little stipend ranging from about 5 to 7 thousand. Companies like All india Radio, RSTV, Prasar Bharti, Times Internet hire people for internships.

Remarks :

All in all a place that has potential but somehow lacks the managerial skills and young energy to it. A lot of good people in the system who are being side lined and not given a free hand to make this institution what it can be. If egos and administration

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

They do offer half freeships to needy students whose family income is less than 5L per annum. Apart from this scholarship is also provided to meritorious students and students who get rank one and two in the entrances.

Exam Structure :

The semester exam structure is fairly good, however in most cases there are no prep leaves leaving students exhausted at the end of one week of continuous exams. One prep leave in between is a much needed breather for students and should be mandatory. The

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is expensive however they do provide scholarships and waivers. My fee was almost 1L. The fee is paid in two instalments. One at the beginning and other in the second semester. Our fee being the highest because of practical aspect. By what they provide the fee is surely high, the equipment issued to us were not the latest nor were they in ample in nos.

Entrance Preview :

IIMC entrance Exam. IIMC is considered to be one of the best institutions for Media studies, especially journalism and Advertising and Marketing. Some of the big names of the industry have studied here. This very reputation of the institute made me choose it over others.

College Events :

We do have an annual fest which the students organise. The year in which i studied that never got materialised. Sanctions and approvals and placements and the chaotic structure didn't allow us. However we did have few other events that included a freshers arranged by the Alumni and a few other small events. There was an annual day celebrated in the beginning of the year, then a hindi patrikarita diwas and a few others.

Hostel Facilities :

Have not been a in the hostel to comment about the same. However the food quality as observed through the students in the hostel is abysmal. Food on most days is not edible, some days it still is bearable but not of decent quality as one would expect. But

Campus Life :

The gender ratio is fairly good. There is a good balance. So is the case with diversity. However the college does not provide with ample interaction opportunities with other courses, students from one course are restricted to that particular course unless they live in the hostel. Extracurriculars are non existent in this college, a film society is in place but the events however much the students try to organise on a large scale never materialised because of maladministration.

Alumni/Alumna :

Helpful. A very active alumni network in place that organises events and helps newcomers. They have an active website and a growing database of alumni which help current students.

Faculty :

Great faculty but poor administration. We have great teachers in our college. Most coming from reputed institutions and have worked in the industry as well. However, most of the time the production staff took our classes, undoubtedly there are technical a

Placement Experience :

This is probably the only plus point. Having the reputation this institute does, the job opportunities are great. I yself got placed with a company in Mumbai. Most students get placed at the end of the year. Top companies like ABP News, CNNIBN, Genesis, Edelweis, TATA, HT and so on come on campus to recruit the students.

Ques. What is the cutoff for IIMC English journalism?

● Top Answer By Ravi Gupta on 02 Feb 21

Ans. IIMC does not have a fixed cutoff for any courses including English journalism. The required cutoff changes every year. Also, the cutoff list is not available for the students.  IIMC is one of the most reputed media institutes in India. The college administration conducts their own entrance examination, which is really tough to creak. You can apply for admission at IIMC online through their official website.  Being a renowned media institute it has limited seats for the courses that are offered here. To secure admission you have to perform well in the subjective entrance procedure, taken by this college. If you secure the required cutoff only then you will get a call for an interview.  According to the reviews of old students, the cutoff required for admission to English Journalism at the institute in recent years was as follows.   OBC- 35 SC/ST- 22 General- More than 50 for IIMC New Delhi From the above discussion, you should have gotten an idea about the cutoff required at IIMC for English Journalism.Read more

Ques. How is the placement in IIMC, New Delhi? And what's the average package in advertising and PR?

● Top Answer By Gaurav Bajoria on 20 Jan 21

Ans. The placement in IIMC New Delhi is decent, being a communication school run by the government. The table below gives the recently available data regarding the placement in IIMC, New Delhi. Average package in advertising and PR 2.5-3 Lakhs per annum Highest package offered 8-9 Lakhs per annum (NTPC) No of the candidates receiving the highest salary 4-5 Key Highlights: Being a government-led institute, it offers good exposure to jobs after course completion. But, it is not always as expected. Most students are not attentive to the lectures, yet they get good opportunities in the industry. The academic score doesn’t matter that much, it is one’s skill that counts. Candidates getting admission in IIMC, New Delhi should have a decent clarity of thoughts, along with good writing skills and speaking ability for interviews. A thorough understanding of the media industry and its way of working is essential for improving yourself. Reading multiple newspapers a day is essential, which the professors focus on. The skills developed in the 9-month course decide how the student will perform in job interviews. Many students pt for courses in digital marketing and web analyst to acquire the skills needed in the industry. Even after clearing IIMC entrance, candidates fail to get jobs because the industrial experts understand the candidate’s capabilities and select them according to their needs. There are only a few students who receive good 8-9 LPA offers from PR and Advertising and that is what distinguishes them. IIMC has that fame in itself, and the candidate just needs the right preparation for his/her own benefits.Read more
