Malda College is a government-sponsored education institution known to be one of the pioneers in West Bengal. Established in 1944, the college has been accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade and affiliated by University of Gour Banga. Malda College offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Admission to these academic programs is given purely on the basis of merit of marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent exam.

Candidates seeking admission in the college are required to follow the following steps:
Step 1: Students need to register themselves on the online portal available on the official website of the University of Gour Banga. They have to register separately for UG/PG/BCA. In the profile page, provide all the needed data correctly and carefully.
Step 2: After filling personal details, enter marks of HS examination and year of passing carefully. This will determine the merit point of the candidate. Entering the marks obtained in English is mandatory. Merit points will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in English & best of the four subjects in H.S /equivalent.
Step 3: Upload scanned copies of all the required documents. Check the documents carefully before uploading them.
Step 4: Choose the desired courses from the dropdown option. A candidate can choose as many courses subject to fulfiling of eligibility criteria.
Step 5: After selecting all desired courses, go to payment page by clicking on “Confirm Application.” Make your payment online through Debit/ Credit/ Net Banking/ UPI.
Step 6: After payment, the candidate can download and print the final application form for future references.
After the registration process, a provisional merit list will be prepared for each course. Candidate can edit the marks of his/her higher examination. After the final merit list, no editing will be permissible. Afterward, a candidate has to provide willingness for counseling for applied subjects separately. Students will be provided with slots for online counseling for a stipulated time period. A student has to take admission from his/her profile through online payment after selection Pass subject from the available combination.

Malda College Courses
The college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science stream in both General as well as Honours category. Apart from this, Malda college also offers PG courses in different subjects. Listed below are the available courses:
Course 1: B.A.
Student can choose between General and Honours courses from an option of 11 different specializations viz. Arabic, Bengali, Economics, English, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Geography, and Education.
Course 2: B.Sc
Candidates can choose from General and Honours programs from an option of 7 different specializations viz. Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology.
Course 3: B.Com and BCA
Students opting for B.Com honors can choose Accounting as their major subject. Also, there is a self-financed section in college that offers BCA degree.
Eligibility: Intermediate graduate with more than 45% marks in aggregate or 40% marks in the relevant subject.
Note: 5% and 10% of Merit Points will be deducted from total merit points credited to the students who have passed H.S. or equivalent (10+2) examinations in 2018 and 2017 respectively.
Course 1: M.A
Malda College offers a postgraduate degree in English, History, and Bengali with an intake of 195 seats. The application can be done on both online and offline modes.
Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University under 10+2+3 system or its equivalent.
- 60% of the seats in each of the three subjects are reserved for students from the colleges affiliated to the Gour Banga University. Admission in this quota is done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam
- The admission for the remaining 40% of the seats is done on the basis of Open Admission Test.
- 22% of the seats are reserved for SC category, 6% for ST, 3% for Category A and B of OBC and 3% for physically handicapped/challenged candidates.
