The course is really amazing as that of other colleges. Ruia has better syllabus than St.Xaviers etc as my friend is studying there. Loads and loads of exposure are there. Ted talks/ fests/ freshers/ Valentine's week/ inter college/ NCC/NSS. It even has different courses attached to the college for extra points. Like a certificate course. Very helpful. You can choose to do it.
This course has a lot to offer but unfortunately Ruia has a bad staff. They're absolutely useless and pathetic, they don't even provide with proper study material and are always playing with their students mental health by giving them more and more pressure
In my opinion, the syllabus is pretty outdated. It's like they keep teaching the same things year after year. I definitely don't think they're keeping up with the times. The faculty is pretty okay too. Some teachers are really nice whereas some aren't so great. When it comes to getting exposure/internships, there was absolutely no help from the college. In fact, they were against students doing internship during the course period
The subjects in first year could be a little boring for arts students but it's mainly for students from other field but tip is to pay attention because it's linked to your course. Other subjects are very interesting. Teachers are fine and friendly. Assignments could get really hectic but then you get a lot of free time too. Exams are not very difficult since it's autonomous.
Faculty is not so great of physics but academic portion is great and we can explore a wide range. Dr nana pradhan is a good professor. Some are really biring and some are having less knowledge, overall its good college for stats and all but not for physics
The curriculum is up-to-date and ensures we're learning with reference to contemporary scenarios which keeps us well-versed with our classroom studies and social circumstances. Vidhi Mehra has been teaching here for a year now and does an excellent job at explaining concepts and theories with absolute clarity. Studying Gender Studies under her in TY is an absolute bliss.
The fee structure was fair and was in line with what was stipulated by the Mumbai University. There was no additional amount that I had to pay to secure my seat. I seats was allotted purely on the basis of the merit of the student. The fee for the course of Life science was Rs 5000-7000 per year
Course Curriculum -
The course was structured in a way to give us both theoretical and practical knowledge. We also spent a lot of time in labs doing things that we learned in the classroom. The exams were structured in a way to test if we understood the concept and we're not just about mugging up things. During the course, we visited many pharma companies as industrial visits to actually understand how things work in practical lives. Being a graduation course we didn't have any campus placement.
It's autonomous college so the curriculum and syllabus set up is nice. Faculties are decent. Some faculties in biotech department are really good. Also college has some industrial visit in 3rd year. Practicals conducted by faculty is also good.
The professors are highly qualified with a PhD degree and some with masters. The college has a good student-mentor ratio. In one batch there are around 30 to 40 students. The curriculum is very appropriate since the college is now autonomous. Theories and practicals are conducted effectively. Exams are semesters wise whereas there are assignments and other basic tests taken on a weekly basis.
