School of Open Learning (SOL) formerly known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Counting Education and affiliated to the University of Delhi was established in 1962. It is a pioneer Institution in the field of Distance Education in India. The School offers UG and PG Courses in the field of Arts and Commerce. The School offers to learn through distance education mode which is a viable alternative for students who need a flexible medium of instruction to attain higher education and vocational skills.

School of Open Learning, Delhi University offers Undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, science and commerce streams.

Course	Details
BA	Subjects: Hindi, English, Punjabi, Tamil, Urdu, Sanskrit, Economics, Education, Mathematics, Nutrition & Health Education, Political Science, History of India up to 8th Century, Culture in Indian Subcontinents. Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 40% marks in the best five subjects. Duration: 3 Years
BA (Hons)	Subjects: English, Political Science Eligibility: Graduate Degree in relevant discipline Duration: 3 Years
B.Sc	Eligibility: 40% aggregate (36% for OBC and 38% for PWD) in 10+2 in the best five subjects. A pass in 10+2 is sufficient for SC/ST candidates Duration:3 Years
MA	Subjects: Hindi, History, Sanskrit, Political Science Eligibility: Graduate Degree in relevant discipline Duration: 2 Years
M.Com	Eligibility: B.Com (Hons.) or B.A. (Hons.) Economics from DU or any other recognized university with 50% marks (45% for OBC, Sports, CW & PWD). Passing marks are sufficient for SC/ST. Duration: 2 Years

SOL DU Admission

Aspirants can apply online for all courses on the official website of SOL, DU. Students belonging to the EWS and EOS category also have the option to apply offline and submit the application form directly at the campus.

To apply for undergraduate courses, candidates should have passed class 12 from a reputed board. Applicants having a graduate degree in relevant discipline with minimum required marks from a well-recognized university or institute are only eligible to apply for masters courses.

Admission of eligible candidates to all the UG courses is done on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination. Admission to PG courses is done through an entrance test which is conducted by the University of Delhi. Those who have completed their graduation from DU will be admitted on the basis of marks in the qualifying exam.

How to Fill DU SOL Form?

Application form cum prospectus can be obtained either from the Main Center at North Delhi Campus or from the South Study Center at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi on payment of INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/ST/PH) In the form of DD drawn in favor of ‘The Executive Director, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi’ Payable at New Delhi as the application fee.

Reading Room - There are overall 205 seats including South Study Centre for enabling the students to study in a quiet and congestion-free environment.
Book Bank – The needy and the deprived can avail books easily through book banks.
Course Material – The well-crafted and concise printed course books are mailed to all the candidates enrolled at SOL.
Faculty- The highly skilled and experienced faculty members are pioneers in their fields who are available for guiding students on various educational matters.

FAQs

Ques. Can I do DU SOL to DU Regular?

Ans. Yes, students having an extraordinary score in DU SOL exams can transfer in DU regular mode. Admission will be granted in the same subject only.

Ques. How many days do we have to go in DU SOL?

Ans. DU SOL classes are conducted on Saturday and Sunday of every week, but there is not any compulsion of attending classes regularly. Candidates can prepare for the examination by themselves and appear only at the time of the exam.

Ques. Which one is better, IGNOU or DU SOL?

Ans. DU SOL offers only a few courses, namely BA, BA (Hons.), B.Sc, B.Com, MA, M.Com. While the span of IGNOU courses is wide. IGNOU offers a total of 226 programs that consist of various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in distance mode.

IGNOU also has the advantage of 56 Regional Centres(RC), 11 Recognized Regional Centres (RRC) (i.e., 6, IGNOU-Army RRC, 4, IGNOU-Navy RRC 1, IGNOU-Assam Rifles RRC) and nearly 2000 Learner Support Centres across the country.

Ques. What is better for UPSC, DU SOL or DU Regular?

Ans. Candidates preparing for UPSC examination can definitely opt for DU SOL courses as once/ twice a week class schedule is good considering the time required for preparing for UPSC.

Candidates who are taking full-day UPSE coachings wil be benefited from the DU SOL Schedule.

Ques: Is DU SOL Good for Career?

Ans. DU SOL and DU regular degrees are recognized by UGC and are good enough for any job. But, DU SOL is considered best for already working candidates or candidates who are preparing for any competitive examination. Otherwise, DU regular courses are great for better exposure to course and associated fields.
