The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College for Women was established in the memory of the late philanthropist Thiru N.R.K.Rajaratnam in the year 1968. It was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, Sri Meenakshi Sundaram of that time. The college is affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University and accredited with grade “A” by NAAC. It offers several programs in the field of commerce, arts, science and management to the students. The college has state of art infrastructure which is facilitated with vital and modern facilities to impart quality of education to the students. The faculty members of the college are qualified and have vast experience in their field of expertise.

The college has a well stocked and spacious library. it has about 55241 books, 150 serials, 1502 back volumes, 1002 book bank books, 23 manuscripts, about 15 PCs, 2 printers. The library also has access to e- books, e- question papers etc. for the students.
The college has a well equipped and well ventilated computer lab. The Info centre has 74 computers, web centre has 77 computers, internet lab has about 10 computers, and computer science lab has 58 computers. There are about 478 computers in campus with broadband connection with speed of 2 MBPS.
The college has separate hostel for PG and UG students. There are total 154 rooms which accommodate about 455 students and provided with essential facilities.
