There is no official alumni network established by the institute. But the ex-students are very helpful as they share their experiences when we ask.
There are 11 faculty members present in our college now. Most of them have a PhD and at least 10 years of teaching experience. Some of them also have a few years of industry experience. Their average age lies between 45 to 50. Some of them are excellent in terms of their knowledge and depth.
As a government institute, the administration is not that much efficient as it should be. Yet things are changing slowly but constantly.
I have Cleared West Bengal joint entrance exam(pharmacy) in 2016 and participated in the counselling process. After verifying the documents at the reporting centre I came to Jalpaiguri to take admission. A provisional admission letter given by the reporting centre must be submitted to the college.
1. Tuition fees 12k per annum (15k for 1st year). 2. Hostel(boys) fees 1.2k per annum ( without fooding). 3. Exam registration fees 1k per semester(8k for 4 years). 4. Paying guest charges 4k to 5k per month (include fooding and lodging). All payments are accepted by cash only.
It is mandatory for us to take an internship for one month in either industry or in a hospital pharmacy department. For the last 2 years, Cipla came to our campus to offer placements. Most of our students get placed through off-campus walk-in interviews. This year a pre-placement talk was organised by the institute.
Some students apply for the merit scholarship given by the WB government. Most of the reserved category students apply for either state or national level stipends. The details can be found in oasis.gov.in
1. Teachers day and foundation day celebration. 2. National Pharmacy Week Celebration along with a scientific seminar. 3. World pharmacists day celebration along with a scientific seminar. 4. Blood donation camp. 5. Football and Cricket tournament. 6. Fresher's welcome and Farewell ceremony.
The course structure is established according to AICTE and PCI(Pharmacy Council of India) and is regulated by The West Bengal University of Health Sciences. There are 2 courses offered by this college- B Pharmacy and D Pharmacy. The new curriculum introduced by the university is very relevant to this sector.
Ragging is strictly prohibited inside the campus. The gender ratio is around 4.5:1. Students come here from all the districts of West Bengal. The college is situated in the Jalpaiguri district hospital campus. The old building is about 90 years old and the new building is about 10 years old.
