Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary is a prestigious spiritual institution and milestone of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church.The Syrian Orthodox Church has a profound history of theological education and scholasticism. Ancient Syriac medium theological schools of Edessa and Nisibis serve as testimonies to this fact and they were in a sense the first Christian universities for Christian theological education.

The BD course leads to the Degree granted by the Senate of Serampore College - Kolkata. Four years of resident study in the Seminary is required for this course. Besides the BD Curriculum, the seminary offers courses related to Syriac, Liturgy of the Church, Homiletics, and Church History for getting a Diploma from the Seminary.
Eligibility: The candidate should have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Science or Commerce from a recognized university. The candidate should produce a certificate of recommendation from his/her diocesan and sponsoring bishop along with his/her application for admission. He/She will have to produce a similar letter from his/her parish priest, the baptism certificate, as well as a certificate of good health from a competent physician The candidate shall appear, when so invited and at his own expense, for a written entrance examination in Biblical Knowledge, Church History, General Knowledge and General English. If selected for an interview, the candidate shall appear for a personal interview. The decision of the seminary faculty is final in selection.
The students can avail the application form either from the seminary website or from the seminary office during the office hours. The application form has to be submitted to the Registrar of the Seminary prior to the last date of submission (either by post or in-person), with the necessary documents as mentioned in the form.
Providing a Scholarship is one of the best ways to impart a legacy that will benefit future generations of Seminary students, faculty, and the quality of the Seminary's programs and learning environments. The scholarships are awarded to the deserving candidates in order to assist them financially
Library: Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary Library has, at present a collection of 50,000 volumes. This consists of books, Thesis, Souvenirs and bound volumes of periodicals. It also has a collection of manuscripts, Xerox copies, maps, charts and CD collections.
Book Shop: The seminary is also running a book shop to make it available for the parishes to purchase the liturgical books, vestments, candle stands etc. Various books concerning the faith of the church, traditions, worship, sacraments, theology etc. and also various liturgical CD's are available in the book shop.
