It was my best shot. I was unsure, and they had a year long foundation course, so I could still make up my mind if this is what I truly wanted. It was a lucky shot, but worth it. Right now, I am doing animation and film design, and the wealth of insight and info I get here is probably most human centric and community based.

I think NID has a good structure and a strong right knot community system, which when tapped into well, can act as a brilliant system of support and upheaval. The course syllabus could be more upto date and market oriented, but at the same time, it is also thinking based and human centric which works well for understanding the fundamentals of a design thinking and process. Also NID is a place with rich history, this having an abundance of good alumni and visiting faculties. It usually leaves you up with your devices, so most learning here happens from self driven motivation and curiosity

I wanted to pursue Transportation Design since childhood. I also applied for Product design but ended up choosing Transportation because sketching cars was something that I have been doing since childhood. For the admission process you have to appear for an Aptitude Test and if you get shortlisted then you will be called for an interview and a discipline specific aptitude test. In the interview you have to show your portfolio. The interview may or may not be around the discipline that you select because they want to check your knowledge about the subject but also want to know about your thinking process.

    Admission -

The entrance exam for NID is a two step process. The first stage comprises of CAT and DAT exams. The next level has a studio test and then a merit list is made. People get admission to various NIDs according to their rank and preference.

    Placement -

The placements have not yet started. The college doesn't as such provide internships. It just aids in you finding one. However it is compulsory for you toNgo to an internship after third year, hence the college helps you in getting placed into one. NID promotes paid internships however one can chose to apprentice if they value the learning more.
