One of the very first colleges that were initiated in Southern India for offering agricultural engineering education, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is one of the constituents of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. In the year 1972, the first batch of students was admitted in the college while master degree programs were initiated in the year 1977. In the year 1987, the college started offering Ph. D. in Agricultural Engineering. The mission of the college is to assist the farming community to improve the standard of living through development and dissemination of Agricultural engineering technologies by the means of education, research and training. Accreditation Board of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) accredited the college. It is supreme body of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
