IHM Guwahati Admissions

The selection of candidates for the B.Sc. program is done based on the scores of NCHMCT JEE conducted by NTA. Admissions to the other courses are based on merit in the last qualifying exam.

IHM Guwahati Facilities

Hotel: There are two hostel buildings for boys and one for girls, providing accommodation to 374 students in total. All the rooms are spacious, airy with all modern hostel facilities.
Library: The library is richly stacked with books and reference material related to the courses.
Medical Room: There is a medical room in the institute. An experienced professional attend this medical room twice a week. Both day scholars and the hostel students can avail of these facilities.
Auditorium: A fully air-conditioned auditorium is there with a seating capacity of 400 students. There are also the most modern audio-visual facilities.

Ans. Yes, there are sports and games facilities like cricket, Carom, Football, Table Tennis, etc.

Ans. 15% of the seats are reserved for the SC category, 7.5% for the ST category, 27% for the OBC category, and some seats are also reserved for North Eastern Council (NEC).

Ans. The maximum age limit for General is 22years (as on 1st July), & for SC/ST is 25 years (as on 1st July)

My degree was more of skills and less of bookish knowledge. You grow in the industry if you have skills and confidence to carry yourself. We were provided good industrial exposure which made our views clear about the industry. Faculties are quite helpful in the college.

The course depends on how updated your faculty is. The syllabus doesn't change much but the process of work changes. The faculties of the institute are great and highly qualified. Daksha madan is one of the faculty member who is a professor of food production practicals as well as theory, and she is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and strict at the same time.

Course Fees : INR 300000 per year

The placement provided by the college is very satisfying and it involves reputed brands like TAj, Oberoi, ITC, Marriott, Westin, Leela and etc. The placement department is exceptionally good and cooperative and they tactfully manage all the placement drives and help us regarding the procedure.

Teachers are kind and supportive

I dont think so. because some faculties just give the marks without even taking the practicals properly. I think marks are not fair. in our college. not for all the faculty. some are very fair for their subject and marks. Teachers age is average and some are seniors.

I am a 1st year student. So I haven't got any chance yet due to lockdown. but yeah I have seen our seniors sitting for the interview for internships in a good property. our college takes the responsibility for this.

Admission:

Every colleges has pros and cons. One of the negative feedback that I would like to provide that is we have a water crisis and it is a little problematic.Other than that everything else is top notch.

It is one of the most growing courses and has lots of opportunities in various fields like FRONT OFFICE , FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES, FOOD PRODUCTION , HOUSEKEEPING etc. The college conducts semester wise exams.

The college curriculam was very good appreciate their teaching skills which helps us currently in the organisation as well , the hostel facilities were very good ,food ,sports ,events were amazing,the network with the almnis were great.

The curriculum is a practical as well theoritical based where we learned about the different hotel procedures and basic requirements about different hotel jobs.we have been taught about different soft skills as well like how to develop suitable personality,grooming etc. Examination structure is semester basis,where as internal examinations also takes places to ensure regular progresses.

Review of my college

I did my B.Sc in Hotel Administration from the IHM, Guwahati. The college has a 100% placement record and good academics. The college offers overall all the basic amenities prescribed by the national standards with a world class infrastructure. The standard of teaching was also good, apart from some issues.

The syllabus was quite flexible and covered all the aspects necessary for overall development of the hotel management aspirants. The notes provided by the teachers and seniors were quite helpful in order to score good marks in the exams.

Really so resourceful college

The Institute of Hotel Management is affiliated to the NCHMCT. The college is located in the heart of Guwahati. The college helped us in internship and the placement process, which helped in shaping my career. I have only IHM to thank for where I am right now.

The course curriculum had a proper balance of theory and practical classes. The syllabus not only covered the topics from hotel management discipline, but also from the operations and food processing domain

IHM Guwahati after spending 3 years here

Institute of Hotel Management college is a core hotel management college, offering degree courses and certificate diploma courses. I did my UG from IHM. Overall the college is good for graduation only. The Placement package could be a little better.

Our schedule consisted of a mix of both theory and practical classes every week. From building the foundation for learning all the etiquettes of the professional jobs, the syllabus and classes covered it all.

Our college is affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology. I am in the final year of my Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Hotel Administration.

The B. Sc. program is a 3 year program, covering in-depth topics of subject matter. The program also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation, and Housekeeping.
