Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), also known as Clinical laboratory Technology is a 3-year undergraduate program that can be pursued after completion of Class 12th. It is a career-oriented course and is one of the most demanded courses in paramedical science.

Direct Admission

The admission for the BMLT course is usually based on merit. The students are required to fill the application form of the required institutes and upload all the documents asked. The institutes will shortlist students based on their previous academic records, and it will be followed by document verification at the institute. The admission process may vary from college to college. Some of the institutes may select the students through the university level entrance exam, followed by personal interviews. But the majority of the institutes in India take admissions for BMLT based on merit.

Lateral Entry

Through the lateral entry procedure of admission, students will get direct admission to the 2nd year of the course. The eligibility criteria through this mode are also the same as for the regular admission process.

Ans. Both courses are considered to be good in their own ways. It totally depends on what a student wants to pursue after completion of their course. BMLT is a 3-year course, whereas DMLT is a 2-year course. And the type of jobs available is almost the same for both the courses. So, DMLT can save a year and provide quicker job opportunities. BMLT consists of more theoretical studies, whereas DMLT is more like a training program full of technical skills. So the student will be more confident to work in the labs after DMLT.
