B.E. Biotechnology: What is it all about?

Biotechnology engineering is a branch of applied biology and chemical engineering standards that includes the utilization of living things in technology, engineering, medicine, and various useful applications. It also includes genetic engineering as well as cell and tissue culture technologies. Biotechnology is an accumulation of consolidated technologies applied to living cells for production of a specific product or upgrading its quality. This might involve domestication of animals, cultivation of plants and improvements through breeding, artificial selection, and hybridization.

This discipline of science includes not only biology but also subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering and more. Its application varies in enterprises for example pharmaceuticals, food, chemical, textiles, nutrition, bio-products, medicine, environmental conservation and animal sciences. Biotechnology integrates branches like genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, embryology and cell biology, which are in turn linked to practical specialties like chemical engineering, information technology, and robotics.

The field of biotechnology in India is phenomenal, including scholars, engineers, and various others such experts. The field where biotechnology has created in India incorporate farming biotechnology, bioinformatics, national bio-asset improvement, bio-composts, plant science and marine biotechnology.

Those who have the capability of practical skills, numeracy skills, communication, presentation and IT skills, interpersonal and teamwork skills, self-management and professional development skills are the good suit for it. Candidates who can understand complex biological processes, have a full and critical understanding of relevant texts, assembling arguments and engaging in debate, critical and analytical skills and independent thinking and problem-solving also are able for it.

Ques. Which course is better to choose. BS Agribusiness management in TNAU or Btech Biotech at Bannari Amman institute of technology?

● Top Answer By Rupesh Biswas on 31 Mar 21

Ans. ABM, unlike any other B.Tech courses offered by TNAU, is one of the great self-financing courses. It is especially good for people who want to work after graduation because the banks stopped their direct recruitment from the schools a long time ago (see 'Agri-marketing job'). And this four-year course needs a fee of approximately 3 L to 3.5 L excluding food and shelter. Therefore, investment return(ROI) is warranted.  Apart from that, campus life at TNAU is just great. You will definitely have fun. You can develop at a faster pace both personally and professionally. You'll love the brand picture - TNAU.  A friend of mine pursued a BS in Agribusiness Management from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, so I can vouch for the course.  If you want to know about BIT, reach out to the students of the institute. BIT is, after all, one of the region's best engineering schools. So, compare and choose which institute is better.Read more

Ques. How is the biotech department of BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Sabeer Chalana on 19 Feb 21

Ans. The Biotech Department of BIT Mesra is average. If you want to join a core company after completing your degree, there are better alternatives. Maximum placement at the institute is in IT and Analytics. Among the companies that visit the campus for pavement, Nestle is the only one that is close to your area of interest.  Here are some other facts that you need to know about the Biotech department.  The department has great faculty and infrastructure. Despite that, you will see many students consulting a lot of books for their course-work, as it is not close to the concept of engineering that they had in mind. As mentioned before, very few core companies visit the campus placement. One of my friends pursued Biotech from BIT Mesra and during her time Biotech students were allowed to sit for only a few consultancies as well.  There are alumni of this institute who secure good off-campus placement offers on their own. So, getting a good job offer depends on your effort. This is a brief picture of BIT Mesra. The final decision is up to you.Read more

Ques. How many marks should one score in the Amity JEE to get admission in Amity University, Noida, for the B.Tech course in biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Rachita Mitra on 14 Jan 21

Ans. No one can answer this because none of the colleges mentions the entrance cut off for admission tests in the respective subjects. Besides, they do not even give the student legit scorecards, and the rank is also not mentioned in the selection chart.  The college administration also highlights that the candidate is selected or allotted to the stream that they have chosen at the time of form fill up. It can be mentioned that the candidates are usually allotted as per their preferences. However, there is a scope to change the branch after the result's declaration and if the candidate wants to change his or her stream. Amity University also not mentioned their cut off for Amity JEE to get admission in the B.Tech Biotechnology course. Besides, they also not reject any candidates unless his or her board percentage is less than 55. Amity University mainly follows the following criteria, which has to be fulfilled by the student at the time of form fill up: Course B.Tech (Biotechnology) Study Mode Regular Marking Criteria Merit List of the scorecard of JEE main (Amity JEE is optional, and required if the student do not have JEE main score) Cut Off Range (2018) Upto 111275 (Common Rank List) Actually, the thing is that the college always wants to maintain the confidentiality of their admission procedure, so that no other educational institute could follow them. For this reason, Amity University also does not provide any scorecard, instead they display the chart including the selected candidates along with their preferences. The students have been allotted in their selected branch, Biotechnology, or the subject they have given to the first preference.  However, they never reject any candidates if they fulfil the criteria as highlighted in the above table. Thereby, the things to be remembered to get admission in Amity University for B.Tech in Biotechnology, the student should be focused to get the best score that is 80% in 10+2, despite, it is mentioned that Amity University requires 60% in the 10+2, for admission in B.Tech Biotechnology.Read more
