Ques. How is the placement of chemical engineering in NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Rhythm Jain on 01 Apr 21

Ans. NIT Surathkal is a 1.5 tier Engineering College. However, there is not much scope for Chemical Engineering in India.  You will not find many Chemical Engineering companies in India. Neither top engineering colleges of India give skilled Chemical Engineers.  Engineering College students mostly go for computer engineering where they can earn up to 50 LPA according to their skills.  As most of the top companies required candidates to have a work profile, and not depend on their academic records while selecting.  Most of the students also opt for MBA and become managers, where they can earn up to 15 LPA.  These industries and companies see candidates' academic record of their college. Therefore, if you are only applying and looking for placement in chemical engineering then you should not go for the course.Read more

Ques. My rank in the JEE mains is 50000. Should I go for the chemical branch in NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Karishma Khatri on 30 Mar 21

Ans. My brother recently graduated from NIT Raipur as a chemical engineer. He got placed in Vedanta Resources with a salary package of around 8 LPA.  Here are some pros and cons about choosing the institute which may help you. Pros: The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Raipur is very interesting. NIT Raipur is growing in all aspects, be it infrastructure, hostel facilities, laboratories, or placements. The institution follows the internal sliding procedure and hence, you can change to your branch of choice after the third semester. You just need to score a decent CGPA which is quite easy. Even if there is difficulty in placements of the core branches, having a good CGPA/ being an avid puzzler/ good at aptitude will definitely help you in getting placed. For boys, it is even easier since they are preferred over girls in the core sector jobs. There is no compulsory attendance guideline. You can easily take out time for self-study or coaching if you have plans for higher studies. Cons: The professors are good but most of them do not provide ample time to the students. It is difficult to score a CGPA above 9 because the professors of the chemical engineering department are strict unlike the professors of other departments. The branch does not ensure 100% placement. It is difficult to get a core job. The laboratory lacks the best instruments and facilities. You will have to study intensively for a few subjects every semester. Since your rank is 50000, it is doubtful whether you will have better choices to opt for. It is always better to go for a government college than a private college even if you go for a branch other than CS or IT. If chemical engineering interests you, you will enjoy it in NIT Raipur but if you wish to go for some other branch, you can drop a year and reappear for the entrance exam.Read more

Ques. How are the placements of chemical engineering at NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Deepika Kunwar on 30 Mar 21

Ans. NIT Raipur released its final placement report for the batch of 2019-2020. According to which, out of 48 eligible students from the Chemical Engineering branch, 38 got placement offers. However, the placements in Chemical Engg. Department has enhanced a lot in the past few years. There are various companies that offer almost 6 LPA. Few of the core companies which recruited chemical engineering students in recent years are as follows. Vedanta Resources Reliance Industries Limited Reliance Petrochemicals BORL Heidelberg Cement LAFARGE Cement Fiat and several others. Besides, along with all these, students also get their placements in certain non-core companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Pradan, and more.Read more

Ques. How good is chemical engineering in NIT Jalandhar?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 30 Mar 21

Ans. The chemical engineering department in NIT Jalandhar is considered to be average, based on the faculty and availability of proper lab equipment. I know little about the Chemical Engineering department at NIT Jalandhar since one of my friends goes there.  The table below gives a brief overview of the chemical engineering department of NIT Jalandhar. Total Fees (B.Tech Chemical Engineering) Rs. 6.76 Lakhs Median Salary Offered Rs. 6 LPA Total number of seats (Chemical Engineering) 90 JEE Main cut-off (Chemical Engineering) 37702 Chemical Engineering: There are some good faculties in the chemical engineering department, but very little lab equipment and proper experimental facilities available. Don’t opt for this branch if you have other alternatives.  If you have already taken admission for chemical engineering at NIT Jalandhar, it is up to you to make the best of your degree. A steady self-study routine can help with that.  Although in the past some alumni of the institute have successfully secured good GATE ranks. So there is a decent option for PSUs and M.Tech. All in all, if you are determined and utilize your time well at the institute, you can definitely have good career prospects.Read more

Ques. What is a better option, NIT Durgapur for chemical or NIT Rourkela for biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Vidya Bhatt on 26 Mar 21

Ans. NIT Rourkela now is the country's second-best NIT. It is well equipped with great laboratory facilities. NIT Durgapur is behind Rourkela's facilities and infrastructure.  Now to biotech versus chemistry. Biotech is a new area and currently evolving. You will have good research and higher education opportunities if you study in this area. You can do a lot of research in this area. As far as investment is concerned, it is much less important because there is less core business. Categories Biotechnology at NIT Rourkela Chemical Engineering at NIT Durgapur Course Fee 6.40 lakh 5.56 lakh Placement Percentage 80-85% 60-75% Highest CTC 13-14 LPA 9-10 LPA Average CTC 6-7 LPA 5-5.5 LPA Recruiting Companies CIL, IOCL, SAP Labs, Vedanta, Future First, etc. Reliance, Jindal, HPCL, etc. It's a strong branch when it comes to chemical engineering. It is also a strong area if you are involved in science or higher research. More industrial than biotech is applicable in this area. Statistics are higher than biotech during the placement process. Like many good recruiting firms around the world. There are Govt employees, too. The most Maharatna companies in this sector, big government companies like IOCL, HPCL are some of the popular ones.  Biotech is the best for you if you want to study and investigate. Many explorable areas. NIT Rourkela offers the best biotechnology laboratory facilities. For biotechnology, this is the best NIT. It's not successful placing-wise. Key firms are much lower, only non-core firms must be reliant. It's fine MoUs for Nit Rourkela. Too fine faculty. You are highly trained and experienced. If you maintain a good CGPA, you can also have good international internships.Read more
