Ques. Which is better for EEE, NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Jyotshna Ranjan on 22 Mar 21

Ans. Among all the NITs of India, NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Warangal are known as the Holy Trinity of NITs. You have asked about NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal, which are equally reputed among students.  In the case of three basic parameters of an educational institute, that is, Academics, Placements and Infrastructures, these two are more or less equal. So, you can choose either of these two.  But if the non-academic parameters are compared, then NIT Surathkal should be chosen. College life also matters equally by the side of academics and placement. Here are a few of the reasons for choosing NIT Surathkal.  Location: If you choose NIT Surathkal, you will get Mangalore on one side and Manipal on another side. Besides, there are other places where you can easily make a 1-day short trip with friends. Communication: Tamilnadu people mostly communicate in Tamil over English and Hindi, so the students from North India may face a gap in communication sometimes. This is really challenging for them. However, there are many students from North India within the campus, so inside the campus, communication will not be a problem.  Culture or Tech Fest: The cultural fest, namely Incident, is the most popular fest in NIT Surathkal and entire India. NIT Surathkal is the only NITs in the entire India, which has its own Private Beach.Read more

Ques. What should I choose: Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani Goa Campus, Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Yashmeet Grover on 22 Mar 21

Ans. One of my friends was torn between these options a few years back, and he chose Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal. However, you should choose the course that interests you more. Here are some of the facts about the same which may help you make your decision.  Electrical and Instrumentation: It is an engineering specialization that is only fixed on the theory of measuring instruments and their operations.  However, its utilization is completely associated with the engineering design along with the automated system configuration in several engineering domains like electrical and pneumatic. Thus, the application is completely industry oriented like an automation process in a few manufacturing and chemical plants.  This engineering specialization’s main goal is to improve reliability, productivity, optimization, safety, and stability.  It deals with the device design in measuring the physical quantities like temperature, pressure, and flow. Thus, a good perception of physics is required to make a complete design of instruments; also some extended knowledge of electromagnetic theory is sometimes required.  Basically, the instrumentation is required for dealing with larger electrical devices in the industry. Electrical and Electronics: In this engineering stream, the student will learn how to design computer systems and electronic circuits and the knowledge of control system development.  Electronics is an important subject for the performance and control of many electrical machines. This course's main focus is completely on the design and testing of inductors, ICs, resistors, and capacitors. Besides, the student will also learn the basics of mathematics, physics, project management, and computer science.  This engineering stream's sub-disciplines consist of Telecommunications, electronics, power, microelectronics, control, and Signal Processing, Instrumentation, and Computers. So, go through the above points and choose an option that suits you.Read more

Ques. How is EEE at NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Rupesh Biswas on 22 Mar 21

Ans. One of my friends pursued his undergraduate studies at NIT Calicut. I will try to give an insight into the EEE department at NIT Calicut based on the things I heard from my friend.  Student Crowd: NIT Calicut has an approximate 50% home state selection policy. So, almost half of the student base is from Kerala. Other than that, there is a major portion of the other half from Telegu states and some from Northern India. So, very few students are from other South Indian and East Indian states. Faculty: Most professors are extremely strict in class, attendance, and evaluation.  Most professors of EEE have good teaching capabilities and conceptual knowledge. There is information about faculties and their experiences on the college website. Laboratories: The labs in the electrical engineering department are quite decent, and up to the required standard, with some faulty machines too. Overall, the EEE department at NIT Calicut can be considered a branch with enough resources and strict discipline.Read more

Ques. How good is the EEE Department in IEM Kolkata ?

● Top Answer By Tiyasha Das Gupta on 19 Feb 21

Ans. IEM Kolkata as a college is just focused on getting marks and secure jobs during campus placements rather than providing quality education to its students to get some knowledge. The students were told to sit in campus placements with UEM students which was considered to be a very dis-organized step taken by the college. The environment inside the college is very bad and the curriculum for students is worse. My sister studied here and she mentioned how the students are only concerned about getting any kind of job during the campus placement so the institution can maintain their reputation resulting in more admissions in the coming years. Categories IEM Kolkata Course Fees 5.83 lakh Placement Percentage 70-75% Highest CTC 15 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA Lowest CTC 2.5 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Hitachi, SAP Lab. They don't care about improving the knowledge or skills of a student. The rules of the college are really difficult sometimes. Like if you're seen at the library you can be restricted for bunking class. Also the teachers are very rude and the students are scared of them. These things leave a bad impression on the students about the department and the college too and ruin the name of the college. These problems should be solved immediately and not only in this college, it should be fixed in every college where such things happen.Read more
