Ques. Which is better, CSE from MNIT Jaipur or mechanical from IIT Jodhpur?

● Top Answer By Rajashree Ghosh on 11 Jun 21

Ans. It depends on what it is that you want as both are different subjects. It depends on your preference. According to my cousin who studied CSE at MNIT, if you want a challenging job and you are aiming for PSUs, then mechanical engineering may be good. But the placements of mechanical even in top colleges like IITs will be lower than their CSE counterparts. If you like corporate sector private jobs in the IT or software sector, then CSE at MNIT Jaipur is a very good option.  Campus placements will be much easier with packages far higher than mechanical.  This does not mean that CSE is an easy subject. It can be difficult especially if you do not have a coding background in your class 11th and 12th.  For that, you need to put extra effort during your graduation.  Categories CSE at MNIT Mechanical at IIT Jodhpur Course Fee 6.56 lakh 9.34 lakh Placement Percentage 80-90% 75% Highest CTC 32 LPA 30 LPA Average CTC 14.5 LPA 14 LPA Recruiting Companies Dell, Wipro, Byju’s, HCL, etc. TCS, DRDO, ISRO, Aditya Birla, etc. Mechanical engineering is going to be tougher even at IITs to secure a job. However, with some struggle, hard work, and years of experience, you may land a PSU job. However, CSE is not easy but getting an initial start to your career is easier in this branch with a good starting salary.  Pick the one which suits you better according to your career choice and the career progression you want after some years.Read more

Ques. Is the UEM Kolkata or the ADAMAS good for ME, and which one of these universities has good placements?

● Top Answer By Payal Sircar on 30 May 21

Ans. From the options given above, none of them are good. UEM Kolkata does not have good management at all. You will not find any good labs here. As far as ADAMAS is concerned, there is not much information available about it but my friends have said that is not that good either. My suggestion to you would be to opt for computer science at either of these colleges. This is because pursuing core streams from either of these colleges will be of no help to you at all.  If you end up doing CSE, you can secure a job at a top MNC or IT firm. Due to the demand of CSE and IT graduates nowadays, there are more chances to get a job here, than in any core industry. Categories ME at UEM Kolkata ME at Adamas Course Fee 5.81 lakh 6.44 lakh Highest CTC 40 LPA 10 LPA Average CTC 4.2 LPA 6 LPA If you are looking for good labs at these colleges for core subjects, they will not be available to you. As a student, you will not be satisfied with this and the faculty is not that good either. You can opt for computer science engineering or eventually just go for Honors.Read more

Ques. What is the better option for an undergraduate course from PEC University Chandigarh, mechanical or aerospace?

● Top Answer By Sarthak Chaudhuri on 25 May 21

Ans. It all depends on your personal preferences and what appeals to you the most. However, if none of these two branches piques your attention, then definitely mechanical engineering in PEC is the way to go.  Mechanical is often favored over Aerospace in terms of placement, faculty, or any other criterion. Mechanical is an evergreen branch, as they claim, and they call it that for a reason.  It is in high demand. All industries will need the mind of a mechanical engineer today and forever. Categories Mechanical at PEC Aerospace at PEC Course Fee 6.39 lakh 6.39 lakh Placement Percentage 80% - Highest CTC 15-23 LPA 10-12 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 6-7 LPA Recruiting Companies JP Morgan, MySQL, Amazon, HPCL, etc. Airbus, Boeing, Goodrich, GE, etc. It would be advised that mechanical is always a better choice than aerospace. Ques. Is the electrical course better than the mechanical course at PEC in Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Rohan Basu on 25 May 21

Ans. Two years ago, one of my friends was in the same situation. He could have taken electrical and sit for every company’s placements. If he chooses mechanical, then only core opportunities are open. Given the circumstances, he chose electrical in the first round of counseling. It was so because he would at least get a chance to sit in almost every business.  Sitting in a good company does not guarantee a good job, and mechanical engineering at PEC is far superior to that of many NITs and even IITs. Trusting his seniors and teachers, he switched to mechanical on the spot round to which he doesn't regret till now.  If you're interested in electrical, go for it. Since my friend had no particular interest in any of these subjects, he preferred mechanical over electrical.Read more

Ques. What is the average package and placement for mechanical at BIT Sindri?

● Top Answer By Aikantika Kundu on 06 May 21

Ans. If you are a mechanical student or even if you are from electrical and metallurgy, you probably will not have to worry much about placement. You only need to work hard in order to get placed in core companies with a decent average package.  Categories Mechanical at BIT Sindri Course Fee 1.17 lakh Placement Percentage 60-70% Highest CTC 10.52 LPA Average CTC 5.7 LPA Recruiting Companies Tata Steel, Vedanta, Tata Power, Tata Long Products, Hindalco, etc. While the college does its best to provide a placement for all its students, the individual effort also makes a difference. Luck also plays a role. These placement statistics are mainly for Mechanical engineering graduates.Read more

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for placements right from their 3rd year of course. Students are allowed for interviews if they are eligible for the criteria asked by the recruitment companies. Various companies like TCS, CTS, Infosys, KGISL, and a few. Placements for mechanical engineering companies are less, but various MOU's are signed with the mechanical engineering related companies which we get the opportunity to go internships and can end up getting jobs too. But the salary will not up to our expectation

Course Curriculum Overview :

I'm fascinated by mechanical engineering that's the reason I chose B.E Mech. The college provides you with good faculty most of those who are Ph.D. holders and student-friendly with good exposure to teaching as well as industries. Teachers have theoretical as well as a practical method of teaching which helps us greatly in understanding the concepts We had monthly tests and semesters every 6 months.

Campus Life :

Cricket, handball, hockey, basketball ball are some major sports teams focused on the campus. There is a lot of social groups and science groups run by the students to take part and get involved in organizing the programs. National level Technical Symposiums are conducted every year in which students from every part of the state participate. Sports meets are also conducted inter-college level

"Hilaricas" - South India's one of the Mega Inter College festival is conducted by our College management, every year on Feb 14. Department Symposiums were also conducted once a year. Mostly it's conducted in March of every year. Regarding Library, the College has a main library and each department has its own library. The main library has more than 10,000 books, both course related and others. The library also possesses a good WiFi connection. Sports were encouraged by the management. There were separate grounds for cricket, volleyball, basketball..etc. Students were given OD to participate in competitions both inside and outside the campus.NCC, NSS clubs were available. A music band was also there in the College.

Placement Experience :

From 3rd year, students were given training for placement. And we're allowed to attend placement from the 4th year. Most of the companies visited were IT based. Companies for non-ciruital branches were really low. Few IT companies visited were CTS, TCS, Infosys, etc. And few non-circuital companies visited were Sakura, Wabco..etc. The highest package offered for mechanical engineering was around 3 LPA and the average package was around 1.8LPA. The placement rate was low for Mechanical engineering during 2020-2021.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose Mechanical Engineering because it provides a base knowledge for most of the Engineering Education. The Faculty: Student ratio is almost 1:6. Few of the faculties have completed PhD, Some of them with M.E and most of the facilities had years of experience in Industries. Both theoretical and practical teachings were good. Internals were conducted once a month. The difficulty of the exams was moderate.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I selected BE because it is the most demanding course in the present position. BE plays a major role while comparing other courses. Most engineers suggest I do this course. The student ratio is only 1:30. The minimum qualifications of faculty are PhD and MTech also.

Internships Opportunities :

Embedded systems, IoT, Robotics are interns available for ECE students. They gave real life projects for proper understanding and proper guidance. The staff is also treating students in a friendly manner. They are also offering Matlab courses.

Campus Life :

For every week there may be a function in each and every department. The library consists of international and natural journals. There is the availability of cricket, basketball, volleyball and tennis grounds are available.

For me the college fee is only 40000 per year. For each and every student has a scholarship based on merit. Also, financial assistance is given to each student from the college management. And then more job offer is available from the core side with 30000 or more stipend for a month.

Campus Life :

In our college library, all kinds of books are available. Subject related books and apart from that all books are available such as quantitative books, aptitude books, etc. Each and every year sports day, annual day, etc are celebrated. Several clubs are available for the students.

Maximum IT companies will visit the campus. Students from Computer science, information technology, communications have excellent placement records. They have MOU with MNC's like cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, etc. But from Mechanical background, the placement is quite poor. Only a pool drive is conducted, at that time students from around 10 colleges will visit our campus and only 4 or 5 students will be recruited from the company. Mechanical, Electronics, civil, Mechatronics students sometimes have off-campus on other colleges

Campus Life :

Students from Tamil Nadu and Kerala are major and few students are also from northern parts of India Laboratory is well equipped with advanced and modern equipment. Sports meets are conducted every year. Dress coding is very strict. Jeans and not allowed inside the campus except Saturdays. No racism is followed within the campus. Religion equality is strictly followed. But there are no strict rules in college. Students are set free as a free birds.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Mechanical Engineering is a stream where we have lots of opportunities in the Industry. We can have work in lots of fields. That's why I took this course. For every 25 students, there was one faculty. About teaching, I must say, each and every faculty I had was best. They explained every portion thoroughly. They didn't just teach and go. They made sure everyone in the class understood the topic very well. Many Faculties were Phd Holders and some of them had Pre Industrial experience which helped them to teach about that topic very well. We had three Internal examinations every 6 months before the Semester examination. We only had one or two modules to study in each Internal examination, so getting a pass was not a difficult task.

Placement Experience :

Students Get placement training classes from the 6th Semester downwards. Companies visit the college from 6th-semester onwards. Some companies will have criteria like no history of arrears, some will have 1 arrear or below, and some companies had no criteria, every student can attend the placement. Every student gets a chance to attend the placements. Many big companies visit our college. And some companies signed a contract with college to give special Industrial training and they set up training sessions inside the college.
