Ques. Which is better, production engineering or metallurgy engineering at PEC Chandigarh?

● Top Answer By Jahnvi Hirandani on 04 May 21

Ans. I have friends studying production engineering at PEC Chandigarh and they have come across that it is somewhat similar to mechanical engineering. You can expect a lot of mechanics and physics, however, some subjects differ as you get into the core. Coming to the question, it totally depends on your pool of interest whether you are into mechanics and production or metallurgy. Here are two major factors you might consider before choosing any of them Production Engineering can get you jobs and packages similar to mechanical engineering. Also, it is a versatile branch where you can learn about manufacturing, operation, maintenance, etc. If you are planning to get into research work after completion of engineering, then you must choose Metallurgy. It has broader research scopes than production engineering. At the end of the day, follow your passion and know where you can invest these 4 years of your life. Nevertheless, if getting a job is your goal then go for production engineering. On the other hand, metallurgy engineering can open doors for good research work if you are interested in doing so.Read more

Ques. Should I take production engineering at MNNIT Allahabad and try for a branch change or should I take CS in NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Vanas Mishra on 29 Apr 21

Ans. There will be a handful of seats available for branch change and branch modifications do not only occur when you fill in a form. You will have other brilliant and ambitious students to compete with.  Choosing the right branch: If you are facing trouble choosing the right branch, you should remember the following things. Don’t opt for a branch just because of the higher CTC, or college brand name, etc. Because the degree you will get is for life. So, make sure you are interested to work in the field that you are choosing.  Also, go through the syllabus given on the official website and see if you can do the coursework for the branch of your choosing.  The table below gives a brief overview of the two courses. Parameters MNIT Allahabad  NIT Raipur Highest CTC 49 LPA - Average CTC 10.28 LPA 9.5 LPA Course Fee 3.24 lakhs 5.52 lakhs My brother was a student of MNNIT Allahabad and for his 1st year, the highest CGPA was 9.67, while many scored 9. Campus Life :

Fests will be happening every now and then. There are many teams that one can join to build their resume also have some fun. All the people are very friendly. The library is great where one can find books related to their branches and can issue the same. Sports activities are also carried out on the campus. There are many sports teams and compete in many competitions.

Placement Experience :

College placements are very decent as many companies visit college. For production, there are not many companies that visit. Though there are many students who opt to have their career in the IT industry. The percentage of people getting placed should be around 50% of the class strength as many of them go for further studies or startups or family businesses

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I was interested in this course. Also added benefit in this course is that we get a 6month internship included in our curriculum. Faculty is well versed in their respective fields. The qualification of every faculty is up to par according to the requirements. Exams are taken according to the defined curriculum.

Campus Life :

The college fest was amazing every year it was conducted in February, for 3 days.it has various technical and fun events. we had a great time at our college fest. The name of my college fest was 'Adsophos'. My college had an amazing library it was open from 7 am to 7 pm, it had all the books, journals articles etc. My college has football, basketball, volleyball and cricket grounds I mostly took part in cricket and football.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose the industrial production engineering course because there were many industries that produced a variety of components such as automobile parts, aeroplane parts etc. This course helped me land my first job in that industry. Most of the faculty members had completed their masters, many of them had PhDs. It was once every month, it was really difficult passing them however if we prepare well it was quite easy.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There wasn't a fee hike, once we enter the college in a specific amount of fee it will be the same until we pass out, well if they raise the fee it will be for the next batch or juniors. I got a scholarship that was funded by the state government.it was amazing, covered all my tuition fee.

Remarks :

Good exposure towards the machinery. Lots of clubs to enrich the knowledge. Has the separate and well equipped buildings for each and every department. Students are enrolled by jee main so healthy competition is there. I opted for production engineering since I didn't get mechanical engineering. So I have to satisfy myself with somewhat similar branch i.e. production engineering.

Campus Life :

Sport facilities are good but still there is a scope of improvement since the campus has abundant amount of land. The campus has gym also. Wifi is good but the range has to be improved. We have a large library known as the central library. Facilities like e - library is also there. Yes, we do have many labs for respected subjects.

College Events :

Campus Life is good. Strangers become your besties. You do lots of masti in college along with the studies. Yes the college has many events but many things are still lacking in these events. We have the major event bitotsav, it's a very amazing event.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course I'm opting for is BE in Production (sandwich). I would personally recommend this course for science students who have an interest towards management as the course includes management subjects in engineering itself. Also being the sandwich pattern it provides an industrial exposure for a year. It gives you the opportunity to actually work on the field and giving you an experience of lifetime. Students almost opt for BBA or other courses after doing 12th science. This course is a better option to that according to me. It is only available in 4 colleges in the entire University this making it so rare. The college is very serious about the studies and arranges industrial visits often. The college also takes various activities both extra and co curricular.

Campus Life :

The gender ratio is quiet equal except for the mechanical and production sandwich department. The cultural group is very active and has recently won various prices in a famous event called 'Firodiya Karandak' the technical groups are GARUASHWA, BAHA, SUPRA, ROBOTICS, TIFNA, GOCART etc. The college magzine publishing department is run and edited by the students, it's called SHIVDARPAN which is the second best magzine in entire pune city. The college has various sports team like cricket, football, badminton, basketball for boys and girls as well. The college has gym equipments in the campus itself.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees for open category is 1,18000 it changes according to the castes and other facilities. Special facilities for TFWS students are provided. It's feasible if compared to the other engineering colleges. And the facilities provided by the college are totally worth the fees. The payment can be done thourough net banking or Demand drafts. A detailed description of the fees is given to the students in the accounts section. And the office staff is very helpful.

There are certain Industrial Visits arranged for the students and there are many social activities done that help people around the college and over mumbai grow with us.

Admission :

I gave a entrance exam named MHT-CET. I applied for online admission on Maharashtra government engineering admission site, upload my marks and all personal information. And based on my choices of colleges I got this college and I was happy with that so I filled up the admission form and took the admission and paid my fees at the same time.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is quite expensive for the people who doesn't have any reservations or quota. But for the people having reservation it is very very cheap as the difference in the fees vary way too much. For open category the fees is about 1. 4 lakhs and for the reservation students it is in some thousands.

Campus Life :

Fr.CRCE is nit just a college but it is a small world in itself. When you secure a seat in an engineering college you spend most of the time int the college rather than with your family. This college has got so many things to do be it National Teams for ATV, Drones, RC Planes and much more. We also have inter-collegiate sports competition where athletes from all over Mumbai participates. We have a National debate competition known as FR.CRCE Memorial Debate where the team from all over the country comes to compete against each other.

Placement Experience :

Placement drives generally start in the beginning of 4th year. As a production student, you need to have at least 6 months of industrial training. The internship programs are provided by the college itself or a student can also choose their own company where they want to work. Placement drives are not only Production related but if a student is interested to go in IT field then there are no restrictions.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Production course in this college is more of practical driven where you get hands-on training and you apply theories and concepts which you learned days ago in lectures and that probably is the best thing about this course. You get research opportunities where you can work with faculties and they can guide you to take the field you like in the future.
