You can pursue a BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) course from IGNOU through distance education mode. The college does not offer a 4-year BSc Nursing course. To secure admission in this open university, a candidate must fulfill the following given educational criteria.

  • In-Service Nurses, for example, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Midwives, must have cleared 10+2 with three years of recognition in General Nursing and Midwifery and at least two years of involvement with the calling. 
  • For male attendants who have not done maternity care in the GNM program, they must have an endorsement in any nursing course of 6 to 9 months term, recommended by the Indian National Council in lieu of Midwifery. 
  • In-Service attendants who have cleared 10th class or its proportional with 3 years confirmation in General Nursing and Midwifery, with having five years of involvement with the calling. 
  • For male medical attendants who have not done midwifery in the GNM program, they ought to have an endorsement in the nursing course of 6 to 9 months span recommended by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of maternity care.

To apply for this course in IGNOU, you need to appear for the IGNOU OPEN-NET examination conducted by the university through offline mode via the OMR sheet.  The entrance exam comprises 5 basic sections: English Comprehension, Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Basic Science.
