Ques. Should I join IGDTUW Delhi mechanical and automation, or PEC Chandigarh civil branch? Which is better?

● Top Answer By Prerona Datta on 02 May 21

Ans. Both IGDTUW Delhi and PEC Chandigarh are reputed colleges and are equally good but both these courses are very different from each other.  If you are interested in higher studies and want to do M.Tech or Ph.D., then only opt for PEC civil. The pressure for studies would be less. You also have no restrictions in doing extracurricular activities. Here you can focus on other things besides studies, like on your hobbies or learning and developing a new skill or a new language which can be helpful in your career.  Here’s a brief overview of the courses mentioned in the question.  Parameters  PEC Chandigarh IGDTUW Delhi Average CTC 10.2 LPA 5.5 LPA Highest CTC 42 LPA 16 LPA Course Fee 3.45 lakhs  4.04 lakhs Hope this answer clears some of your doubts.Read more

Ques. Which college should I choose for mechanical engineering: SRM Sonepat or UPES?

● Top Answer By Sourabh Kumar on 07 Apr 21

Ans. If you are considering the main SRM campus, you don’t need to hesitate. The campus is quite good. The faculties might not be great, but there are departments where they are found to be standard. The hostels however are not quite up to the mark, so you can opt to search for a PG. The student crowd is quite impressive. You will be among talented peers. Also, SRM has a standard placement record.  Additionally, the other bonus point is that this institute is one of the most known private universities all through India. VIT, Manipal, BITS being the other three, while Thapar RVCE and so on follow straightaway. A brief highlight of both institutes is briefed below. Parameters  SRM Sonepat UPES Average CTC 12.50 LPA 45 LPA Highest CTC 5.11 LPA 5.25 LPA Fees 10.85 lakhs 13.85 lakhs If you want to go for Mechanical Engineering, then you must go to SRM Sonepat. It is due to the fact that UPES is good basically for Petroleum, Aerospace Engineering and a few of the CS Branches, while SRM Sonepat can be a good choice for mechanical engineering.Read more

Ques. What is the average package in NIT Raipur for Mechanical engineering?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 31 Mar 21

Ans. As far as the placement reports say, placement for mechanical engineering in NIT Raipur varies in between 70%-80%. Although the placements are not as high as IT/CSE branch when compared with mechanical engineering. But yes, there is a most essential perk of job security in the mechanical engineering branch which most of today’s software companies and startups lack. Now moving from core to non-core campus visitors in the fields of Software & Analytics for all the branches, the package offered is usually very low around 3.5–5 LPA. The automobile companies like Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Tata Motors, and Fiatwhich visit NIT Raipur for campus placements all give packages more or less between 5.5–6 LPA. Vedanta Resources do provide a better package than automobiles but their package includes a large amount of variable pay which depends on individual as well as company performance. So in the long run they are paid more or less the same as automobile placed people get. PSUs like Coal India Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) which visit NIT Raipur are among those few ones who actually increase the average by providing a very good pay scale of 10–12 LPA. Some companies like BPCL AND HPCL have strict rules of allowing only topper of some branches to appear for the placements. Whereas Coal India does not have vacancies for mechanical every year. Though, the job openings for Mechanical Engineers are always there. This is a reason why Mechanical is called an evergreen branch. Moreover, placements everywhere on the country’s economic situation. Don't go for placement packages, it may disappoint you. Just keep a good CPI and be conceptually strong, you will surely end up in good companies like Tata and Maruti.Read more

Ques. How is mechanical Engineering in NIT Raipur?

● Top Answer By Sayantani Barman on 25 Mar 21

Ans. Mechanical engineering at NIT Raipur is one of the best among all the NITs. The faculty members over there are some of the best on the campus as compared to the other departments. The faculty members serve everyone's needs.  The seniors and other faculty members are quite talented and extra-ordinary. The students put a lot of effort into everything they do. They have made the SAE group and robotics group in the college this year only. There is a lot to learn in Mechanical at NIT Raipur. Placements are amazing but also depend upon your knowledge and skills. Even if you don’t get placed anywhere, you could still prepare for GATE as the college has a very good environment for the students. Using your preparation for GATE, you could even get a job in PSU like IOCL, BPCL, NTPC, etc. Categories Mechanical Engineering in NIT Raipur Course Fee 5.40 lakh Placement Percentage 75% Highest CTC 16-20 LPA Average CTC 5-6 LPA Recruiting Companies Microsoft, Tata Steel, Amazon, Samsung, IBM, TVS Motor, Hero motocorp, U sigma, Box8, Capgemini, ZS associates, etc. The mechanical students definitely get paid less than the software students, but they have the most essential perk of job security which most of today’s software companies and startups lack. Job openings for mechanical engineers are always there. There is a reason why mechanical is called the evergreen branch.Read more

Ques. How good is IEM kolkata for mechanical engineering?

● Top Answer By Neha Rani on 22 Mar 21

Ans. IEM Kolkata is a very prestigious private college in West Bengal and it is basically known for some of its branches such as Computer science, Information Technology and Electronics, and Communication engineering.  Mechanical at IEM: Few new branches including Mechanical introduced in the institution that has been added in the recent year. The students do not have much of a college life. There are not any extracurricular activities. There are only a handful of supportive faculties in these branches. There are no proper classrooms, labs for the mechanical branch. The Mechanical engineering department is situated on the Management campus. The students are made to follow some irrelevant rules and attend classes and seminars that have nothing to do with their future goals. The course curriculum is not industry-oriented.  In placements, students are mostly placed in IT companies. You won’t get much assistance for GATE preparation here too. Faculties are not very supportive and focus more on attendance. Although, students of the Mechanical branch at IEM are doing a good job in student chapters like IEEE, ISHARE, etc.  The college is good for other branches but for mechanical, you should look for other options.Read more
