How to get admission to good BTech Biotechnology Colleges?

To get admission into a good college one needs to ensure to have scored more than 90% in 10+2 level. Apart from this, most of the institutes provide admission to the course on the basis of entrance examinations, hence preparing well for the entrance exams is a must for an aspirant.

Following are some of the points to crack these entrances:

  • The questions in these entrance exams are generally asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
  • The entrance examination mainly consists of  MCQ based questions and numeric type questions. The duration of most of the entrance tests will be 3 hours.
  • The students should first introspect themselves which of the three subjects is the easiest for them. It is always advised to start with the easiest subject in these exams.
  • Students should give equal importance to each and every section while preparing for the exam.
  • It will be beneficial for a student to maintain a separate notebook where all the important formulas and points are noted down for a quick revision.
  • Students should make sure that they are well versed with tricky chapters like mechanics, optics, etc because most of the tricky questions are asked from these chapters.
  • Students should properly revise all the inorganic reactions and should work out all the organic reactions properly.
  • While preparing for the organic reactions, more emphasis should be given on the mechanism of the reaction. Most of the questions are asked from reaction mechanisms only.
  • Solving previous year papers and writing mock tests are an integral part of the preparation. Aspirants should write at least 10-15 mocks before writing the actual examination.

Last but not least, clear the rounds like counselling and verification round with confidence and success.

Note: Before shortlisting and selecting colleges finally, ensure to check the placement rate of the college, method of course delivery, admission system, and the financial aid offered  there

Ques. Which course is better to choose. BS Agribusiness management in TNAU or Btech Biotech at Bannari Amman institute of technology?

● Top Answer By Rupesh Biswas on 31 Mar 21

Ans. ABM, unlike any other B.Tech courses offered by TNAU, is one of the great self-financing courses. It is especially good for people who want to work after graduation because the banks stopped their direct recruitment from the schools a long time ago (see 'Agri-marketing job'). And this four-year course needs a fee of approximately 3 L to 3.5 L excluding food and shelter. Therefore, investment return(ROI) is warranted.  Apart from that, campus life at TNAU is just great. You will definitely have fun. You can develop at a faster pace both personally and professionally. You'll love the brand picture - TNAU.  A friend of mine pursued a BS in Agribusiness Management from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, so I can vouch for the course.  If you want to know about BIT, reach out to the students of the institute. BIT is, after all, one of the region's best engineering schools. So, compare and choose which institute is better.Read more

Ques. How is the biotech department of BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Sabeer Chalana on 19 Feb 21

Ans. The Biotech Department of BIT Mesra is average. If you want to join a core company after completing your degree, there are better alternatives. Maximum placement at the institute is in IT and Analytics. Among the companies that visit the campus for pavement, Nestle is the only one that is close to your area of interest.  Here are some other facts that you need to know about the Biotech department.  The department has great faculty and infrastructure. Despite that, you will see many students consulting a lot of books for their course-work, as it is not close to the concept of engineering that they had in mind. As mentioned before, very few core companies visit the campus placement. One of my friends pursued Biotech from BIT Mesra and during her time Biotech students were allowed to sit for only a few consultancies as well.  There are alumni of this institute who secure good off-campus placement offers on their own. So, getting a good job offer depends on your effort. This is a brief picture of BIT Mesra. The final decision is up to you.Read more

Ques. How many marks should one score in the Amity JEE to get admission in Amity University, Noida, for the B.Tech course in biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Rachita Mitra on 14 Jan 21

Ans. No one can answer this because none of the colleges mentions the entrance cut off for admission tests in the respective subjects. Besides, they do not even give the student legit scorecards, and the rank is also not mentioned in the selection chart.  The college administration also highlights that the candidate is selected or allotted to the stream that they have chosen at the time of form fill up. It can be mentioned that the candidates are usually allotted as per their preferences. However, there is a scope to change the branch after the result's declaration and if the candidate wants to change his or her stream. Amity University also not mentioned their cut off for Amity JEE to get admission in the B.Tech Biotechnology course. Besides, they also not reject any candidates unless his or her board percentage is less than 55. Amity University mainly follows the following criteria, which has to be fulfilled by the student at the time of form fill up: Course B.Tech (Biotechnology) Study Mode Regular Marking Criteria Merit List of the scorecard of JEE main (Amity JEE is optional, and required if the student do not have JEE main score) Cut Off Range (2018) Upto 111275 (Common Rank List) Actually, the thing is that the college always wants to maintain the confidentiality of their admission procedure, so that no other educational institute could follow them. For this reason, Amity University also does not provide any scorecard, instead they display the chart including the selected candidates along with their preferences. The students have been allotted in their selected branch, Biotechnology, or the subject they have given to the first preference.  However, they never reject any candidates if they fulfil the criteria as highlighted in the above table. Thereby, the things to be remembered to get admission in Amity University for B.Tech in Biotechnology, the student should be focused to get the best score that is 80% in 10+2, despite, it is mentioned that Amity University requires 60% in the 10+2, for admission in B.Tech Biotechnology.Read more

Ques. How is Amity University, Gwalior for a B.Tech in biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 16 Oct 20

Ans. B.Tech in Biotechnology from Amity University is really good as it is a NAAC Grade ‘A’ University and approved by AICTE and UGC. Amity University is a fair option if you want to pursue your B.Tech in Biotechnology and the two main reasons are – Course and Faculty. If you do not get into IITs or NITs then Amity can be considered as a good option. Almost all the colleges have the same curriculum and course, the difference lies in the type of placements and opportunities offered by the University. Category Amity University Ranking #162 by NIRF for B. Tech Average Fee Per Year 1,71,000 lakh per year Course Duration 4 years Entrance Mode JEE Main, State Engineering Entrance Exam, Amity JEE  Companies Visited Aditya, Adobe, Amazon, CitiCorp, etc. Hostel Fee 58,000 per year Campus Life: A strict No Ragging policy is followed by the College. The College has a huge library. The University maintains a healthy gender ratio where the number of girls outweighs the number of boys. Placements: Various internships are offered by the University but they are not paid internships. A student only gets a Recommendation letter. The highest package is around 15 lakhs per annum while the average package falls around 3 lakhs to 4 lakhs per annum. The placement rate for Amity is 97%. Course Curriculum: The faculty is highly knowledgeable as everybody has completed their Ph.D. in the specialized subject. Various course-related activities are also conducted by the University. Scholarship: The Scholarship Policy of Amity is very convenient. If you score between 75% to 88% in class 12, you can get a Scholarship of 25%. If you score between 89% to 94% in class 12, you can get a Scholarship of 50%. If you score above 94%, then you can be awarded a 100% scholarship. This Scholarship is named after the Amity’s founder, Dr Aseem Chouhan Scholarship. Therefore, there were enough reasons to state that Amity is a good choice for B. Tech and the type of personality development offered by it, is very unique too.Read more
