Ques. Which is better, IT in BVM or EE in PDPU?

● Top Answer By Karishma Khatri on 19 Apr 21

Ans. If you choose Electrical Engineering (EE) in PDPU, then you will definitely get a job, as this institute has a better EE department. But you must maintain your CGPA of approximately 9. One of my friends has studied in this institute, and he told me that it is easy enough to maintain this score in PDPU. In the following, a brief overview has been given, considering these two institutes. Criteria BVM PDPU Highest CTC 18 LPA 19.20 LPA Lowest CTC 2 LPA 3-4 LPA Average CTC 4 LPA 6-7 LPA Placement statistics 60-65% 80% However, if you get selected in MNCs (IT and corporate jobs), they may bore you after a few years. So, if you desire to pursue your career in this field or want some experience, you can select a stream based on their preferences. However, my friend studied Petroleum Engineering (B.Tech) in 2015-2019 from PDPU.Read more

Ques. How is IIIT Vadodara for a Btech in CSE/IT?

● Top Answer By Veda Burman on 15 Apr 21

Ans. Many students claim that IIIT Vadodara is not a good option. And here are some of the facts that explain the reason. It is important to do BTech in branches like CSE or IT from a well reputed college as the recruiters value the degree only if it is from a well reputed institution. IIIT Vadodara was started back in the year 2013 and no infrastructure work has been started for the actual campus in Vadodara. Since the past few years, the institute had PDPU high rise as the hostel which was very good, it had big rooms with attach bathrooms. But this contract ended in the year 2019 and thus the new hostel has been displaced at Sabar institute of technology which is located in a completely remote area. You will miss out the enjoyment part of your college. Sabar institute of technology is 31kms away from the college. It takes around 50 minutes to travel by the bus provided by the college to reach there. This process is stressful. The class hour is from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The students can’t attend any thing irrespective of their college hour as the college is in a remote area and there is no means of transportation. There is not even cab facility available in that area. Even for travelling to railway station and airport, the means of transportation is very hard to find. So, you should look for better options, if you have any.Read more

Ques. Which is a better choice between CS at BITS Goa and IT at IIIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 24 Mar 21

Ans. CSE at IIIT Allahabad wins hands down when the choice is between IIIT-A and BITS Goa. Both institutes have the same coursework for CSE, but IIIT-A offers it for one-third the fee of BITS Goa. Most of the students opt for BITS just for the brand name. The faculty at the BITS campus is not as good as that of IIIT Allahabad as it is funded by MHRD while BITS is a private institute.  IIIT-A is popular for its coding culture. IT is one of the flagship courses offered there and placement records are at their best. Placement in the software domain is any day better at IIITs when compared to BITS.  The following table shows a brief overview of the institutes: Particulars IIIT-A BITS Goa Entrance exam JEE Main BITSAT Cut-off (Round -1) 374-4278 374(closing) Tuition fee 98,100 2,58,475 Placement rate 97% 96% Highest CTC offered 39 LPA 43 LPA Average CTC offered 11.47LPA 20.83LPA IIIT Allahabad is the best choice among the two with good placement records, perfect campus, amazing faculties, and facilities. Being a government-affiliated institute has its own merits when compared to BITS Pilani Goa.Read more

Ques. Should I pursue IT at PICT or CSE at IIIT-Pune (Chakan)?

● Top Answer By Shekhar Suman on 23 Mar 21

Ans. I have a friend at IIIT Pune. I only heard good things about the institute from him. Here are some facts about IT at PICT and CSE at IIIT-Pune, which may help you to decide.  Teachers: All of the faculties of IIIT-Pune are Ph.D. holders from institutes like IIT KGP, NITs, and foreign universities. Most of the faculties of PICT are M.Tech or still pursuing their PhDs. Crowd:  Instead of going home during vacations, students attend Android and Web development workshops.  Faculties encourage students to take up projects and internships from the first semester. Degree:  Students get B.Tech in IIIT-Pune as compared to a B.E. at PICT.  IIIT-Pune's curriculum doesn't include subjects like Civil, Engineering Drawing, Mechanics, Mechanical, Chemistry which are of no use in the course of CSE. Institute of National Importance: IIIT-Pune is like all the IITs, NITs, IIITs which is an Institute of National Importance( INI) which leads to a lot of Government funds and monetary support.  Students who did their 12th from the MP board or others can receive a full tuition fee waiver for 4 years of their B. Tech since IIIT Pune is an INI. Sports and Clubs: Any student can start a club of their own if they have a passion for something at IIIT-Pune.  IIIT- Pune bagged 5 medals in IIT- BHU’s Annual Sports Fest Spardha and continues to receive honors in other sports events as well. Attendance and Holidays: PICT has minimum attendance criteria of 75% and PICT imposes an 80% attendance. PICT has 9 days winter break and 15 days summer break, so if you are not a local then you will not get to see much of your family. At IIIT-Pune students get 1 month of Winter Break and about 2.5 months of Summer Break.  Exposure and Brand: IIIT-Pune students usually go for two industrial visits to Infosys and Tech Mahindra.  IIIT is a brand as there are a total of 23 IIITs in India and are recognized throughout the country and overseas.  IIIT-Pune also has inter-IIT sports and technical fests every year where all the IIITs across the country take part. Students think that PICT is old so it’s better and yes it’s been around for 20 years since PICT’s inception and it has developed whereas IIIT-Pune is just 2 years old and has the potential for tremendous growth. Read more

Ques. Is NIT Surathkal IT good?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 23 Mar 21

Ans. My brother has graduated from NIT Surathkal in 2018 and completed his BTech in Information Technology. According to his experience, the department had helpful and brilliant students, although the faculty was a mixture of average and good professors. The CSE and IT departments are the most sought after and have an average placement rate of 90%-100%, so here are some more facts regarding the same- The faculty is not that good due to two factors, firstly because it is not as dedicated to research as are those in IITs. For instance, IIT Bombay is excellent in research initiatives. Secondly, the department requires 15-20 full-time faculty members, but currently, there are about 10-12 assistant professors on an ad-hoc basis, some of them do not even possess a Ph.D. Lastly, the teachers are not very adept at communicating better. Some seniors had been much more helpful in the understanding of concepts by students. However, the department is free of petty politics unlike the CSE department, where there's a bit of tiff between the teachers and students. The following table shows the placement data for IT at NIT Surathkal- Parameters NIT Surathkal IT Department Placement Rate 90% Average Salary (INR/LPA) 20-25  Highest Salary(INR/LPA) 49 Top Recruiters Novartis Healthcare, Accenture, L&T Infotech The good point about the IT Department is that it has an excellent placement rate only second to CSE. Scoring good marks also is not an issue if you're able to rote learn for subjects like Data Structures, also if it could be taught using Introduction to Algorithms, then it'll be easy for students.Read more
