The course is divided into 8 semesters, each lasting 6 months in duration. As one of the minimum eligibility criteria needing to be fulfilled, aspirants are required to have qualified the 10+2 examination with a minimum aggregate score of 50% with Physics, Maths, and Chemistry. Additionally, students are also needed to clear the relevant entrance test like JEE Main.

Ans. One of my friends was in L.D and another close friend graduated from BVM. Thus, it would be easy to put the points together and compare which one’s the best.  Both the colleges are prominent and quite old. They both are government colleges hence, the fee structure is also similar.  If we compare the campus life of both the colleges, my friend from L.D. mentioned that the campus life of his college is lively as the students have the freedom to indulge in other activities than studies. Whereas BVM is quite strict and does not have many campus resources. The professors in BVM are well-experienced and approachable. The lab facilities at BVM are great.  BVM has a central location in VV Nagar.  There are no hostel facilities at BVM.  The recruiting companies are almost the same for BVM and L.D apart from the local companies. Ques. Is the electrical course better than the mechanical course at PEC in Chandigarh?

Ans. Two years ago, one of my friends was in the same situation. He could have taken electrical and sit for every company’s placements. If he chooses mechanical, then only core opportunities are open. Given the circumstances, he chose electrical in the first round of counseling. It was so because he would at least get a chance to sit in almost every business.  Sitting in a good company does not guarantee a good job, and mechanical engineering at PEC is far superior to that of many NITs and even IITs. Trusting his seniors and teachers, he switched to mechanical on the spot round to which he doesn't regret till now.  If you're interested in electrical, go for it. Since my friend had no particular interest in any of these subjects, he preferred mechanical over electrical.Read more

Electrical and Computer science is very different from each other and they have very few things similar to each other.  In electrical engineering, the course module includes a lot of physics and classical and applied maths, but in computer science, the course module includes discrete and applied maths and there is no part of physics.  In electrical engineering, there are a lot of theoretical studies of maths and physics but in computer science, there are mostly logical studies and coding. Although at the advanced level, these two branches do marge a bit, they are completely different for beginners.  Here’s a brief overview of the two courses mentioned in the question.  Parameters  EE at Nirma University  CS at SRM Average CTC 6 LPA 6-8 LPA Highest CTC 8 LPA 28 LPA So, you should choose the branch according to your skills and knowledge, rather than choosing a branch, based only on placements. Ans. You must choose a subject as per your interests. Besides, you must follow up with a proper plan, as everyone wants a good and well-settled future ahead. Based on interest:  You must not have a great idea about the engineering branch before taking admission in the respective subjects. It is important to go through the entire syllabus online, as per your choices.  Most of you will initially choose CSE thinking it to be superior. It is not limited to programming and hacking. This branch deals with mathematics and logical thinking, which is entirely unknown to you before your admission. Future Plan: If you are not interested in core subjects and have a plan for doing an MBA or preparing for civil services after completing engineering, they must go for PEC. You will get a better environment to prepare for competitive examinations.  However, if you want to pursue MTech further, then it is better to select a subject as per your interest. Faculties of PEC The professors of this institute are very old and good, as they have enormous knowledge in the respective subject.  However, the new faculties are totally below the expectations.  You will surely get the placements if you do not have any bad images in the entire college life. Remarks :

College management is very corrupt. A know a student who got her branch changed after 1st year even though she had a backlog. Branch is changed only on the basis of marks you get in first year but her father had friends in high places, so he pulled some strings to make a new roll number and fake records of first year. In another case, a professor students who scored less than average in every test somehow got college rank 3 when the DMC was given. In another case a projector, sold in the market for 50k, was bought for 4lakh. You can guess where the extra money went.

College Events :

All government holidays are celebrated and a holiday is given. Apart from that 3 cultural fest and 1 technical fest are also organised every year. Conflurnce is the name given to the cultural fest. It's organised every in the mid of February but from this year it will be in November. Cultural events like stage play, solo singing, mime, group dance and star night are organised and they are quite good. Techspardha is the technical fest in which events like robot wars, simulated buisnesses are organised.

Admission :

First, i had to appear for the jee mains exams and the board exams. The rank for admission was calculated 60 percent on the basis of mains percentile and 40 on the basis of board percentile. After the ranks were out, we had to fill our preferred choices in an online counselling form. According to our rank, our choices were alloted to us through multiple rounds of counselling. After that i had to visit the campus of fee submission and registration.

College Events :

All the major festivals are celebrated in the college. Apart from that there are events like international conferences and other seminars too. The technical fest take place for each department once in the year, providing an exposure to the students to learn more and more. The cultural fest also takes place once in the year and that's the main one of the university where all colleges and students from different courses comes and participates.

Admission :

The admission process is totally through the merit list which comes out on the basis of the ranks. The corresponding rank student are allowed to make an account and participate in the online counseling. The counseling rounds then take place and you attend those to get the college available for your rank.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure is pretty good. The faculties are also nice and they highly intend to focus on the key concepts of the course. I pursued my bachelors so wasn't that much involved with the research. But as a start it gave me a good platform so that I can pursue masters in the given field ahead.
