B. Tech.Engineering Physics course is about the engineering skills and the specialization in the study of physics and its applications. The minimum eligibility criteria for a student to take admission in B. Tech. Engineering Physics course is that the student must have passed in the class XII examination which subjects as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from any recognized board.

The students are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam and marks in board exams. Weighatge given to entrance exam is 60% and board marks is 40%. After which an All India Rank List is prepared and shortlisted candidates are called for the counseling session held at IITs on the basis of that rank list. During these counseling sessions, students are asked to choose their choice of engineering from various courses given to them on the basis of their ranks in the entrance exam.
