Ans. I would like to share the experience of one of my cousins, who studied biotech at BIT Mesra. It all started after he secured a decent rank in his AIEEE exam and through the All-India quota got admission in BE- Biotechnology course, offered by BIT Mesra. In the first year of his engineering, students studied the same subjects irrespective of their branches. At the end of his first year, he was quite confident that he had studied hard and cleared all subjects without any problems. After getting into his second year on the first day in the department he got the reality check. From that day onwards, he doesn’t advise people to join Biotechnology, here at BIT Mesra. Some vital points about Biotechnology, BIT Mesra: The lab equipment is world-class but none of them truly work. If some of them do the students are not allowed to operate them. The class schedule is quite hectic, students will have classes throughout the day, 5 days a week. For the next 3 years, same things are taught to you under different subject titles. Ans. My sister is doing her B.Tech in Biotech from NIT Raipur. Here are some of the snippets of her experience at the institute.  Placement: Mostly the companies that visit NIT Raipur for recruitment are for the IT, consultancy, and analytics sector. They are also taking the initiative to invite companies related to the biotech, healthcare industry, and food biotech sector. There have been instances of core biotech companies doing the recruitment on campus. Faculty: They have well knowledgeable and expert faculty for biotech. You might want to take care that you stay on good terms with them so that you can get a decent teacher assessment score. The best part about the faculty here is that they will encourage you a lot if you come up with any innovative project idea that you want to pursue under their guidance. Scope: If you wish to go for higher studies in the biotech industry, it is a good idea to go for doctoral studies after completing your master’s degree. If you are not so keen on going for higher studies, the on-campus recruitment procedures will suffice for you. It is especially good for people who want to work after graduation because the banks stopped their direct recruitment from the schools a long time ago (see 'Agri-marketing job'). And this four-year course needs a fee of approximately 3 L to 3.5 L excluding food and shelter. Therefore, investment return(ROI) is warranted.  Apart from that, campus life at TNAU is just great. You will definitely have fun. You can develop at a faster pace both personally and professionally. Ans. NIT Rourkela now is the country's second-best NIT. It is well equipped with great laboratory facilities. NIT Durgapur is behind Rourkela's facilities and infrastructure.  Now to biotech versus chemistry. Biotech is a new area and currently evolving. You will have good research and higher education opportunities if you study in this area. You can do a lot of research in this area. As far as investment is concerned, it is much less important because there is less core business. Ans. My brother completed his B. Tech in Biotechnology from NIT Raipur in May 2016. The reason for choosing it was because of the brand value. But after being in the college and started taking interest in the studies and various activities, it went on to be a great 4-year long journey. Biotechnology is an amazing subject with many interdisciplinary projects coming up your way. You can always combine your knowledge of biotechnology with other fields, like Electronics,  It is a trustworthy institute for CSE. You will have to work yourself to achieve something big.  Companies that visit NIT Raipur include some good names but not the high-end ones like Google, Facebook but the ones like Oracle, Samsung, Infosys, CTS, CIL, BPCL, Mu-Sigma, Polaris, Yodlee, Analytics Quotient, Tricon Infotech, Capgemini, Wipro, Barclays, Amazon, Pradan, Resonance, etc. Placement Percentage 90-100% Highest Package 17 Lakh Average Package 7-8 Lakh Lowest PAckage 3.5 Lakh The number and level of the companies which visit the campus is going to go up in the coming years.
