GNM Admission Process

GNM course admissions are chiefly offered through the result score of various state level entrance exams. GNM Admission Process 2020 and 2021 might  be affected a bit due to the impact of Coronavirus.

Note: Students can also pursue GNM Distance Learning course from IGNOU New Delhi.

  • Candidates need to have completed Class 12th in order to appear for GNM exams. Those who are still in Class 12th cannot apply for GNM admission.
  • Students need to fill the application form and deposit the admission fees. If their score meets the criterion of the college they are planning for, they will be given direct admission.

GNM Eligibility

The main eligibility criteria to pursue a GNM course in India are listed below.

  • Students must have completed their Class 12th in any stream, though Science stream and Biology subjects are preferred.
  • Also, candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in Class 12th exam. Some top medical colleges offering GNM courses ask for 60% marks.
  • They must also have obtained the minimum number of marks required in their GNM Entrance Exam Result.

GNM Admission 2021

GNM Nursing admission process depends highly on the marks obtained in the Class 12 Boards Exams. The GNM Nursing Admission process takes place both through direct admission or through entrance exams. Government Colleges take in students through entrance exams conducted by State Level Entrance Exams.

The Entrance Exams are many and diverse. Each State has their own entrance exams and some colleges like BHU conduct their own Entrance Exams for GNM Nursing.

About GNM

GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery is a 3.5 years duration course which is commonly also known as GNM Nursing. It is a diploma level course, suitable for those who want to pursue a career in clinical nursing.

The 3.5 years of GNM duration are divided into 3 years of education and 6 months of mandatory internship. Students get to do internships in Nursing Homes, Hospitals and even Private Medical Firms and Companies. This is suitable for those who are interested in assisting sick people and helping doctors in various hospitals.

GNM Admissions are done through entrance exams, almost all of which are state level. Most of the states in India have their departments which conduct entrance exams for GNM Nursing courses. The details of these exams are given later in the article..

Students of all streams in Class 12th are eligible to pursue GNM Nursing course, though Science students with Biology as a subject are preferred. Some of the top GNM colleges ask for a minimum of 60% marks in Class 12th though most other colleges ask for 50% marks.

Hi Anshu, sorry but commerce students cannot apply for this course. Candidates applying for ANM course must have pursued intermediate in science stream. Any medical course has the requirement as mentioned here.
