Eligibility Of the Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Business Economics)

The minimum eligibility for MBA (BE) is at least 50% marks in graduation in any discipline. However, certain institutes give preference to candidates with a background in commerce and economics. 

How to Get Admission in Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Business Economics)

The process that is followed for admission to MBA Business Economics is:

  • Entrance Exam 
  • Group Discussion / Personal Interview 
  • Final Admission 

Some of the top examinations for admission to an MBA program are listed below:

  1. CAT: CAT is an examination conducted mainly for admission to the IIMs. The examination is held in the months of October – November. CAT scores are also accepted by many private institutes for admission to their MBA program.
  2. CMAT: CMAT is conducted by AICTE for admission to AICTE approved management institutes. Registration for CMAT starts in the month of November and examination is held in the month of January.
  3. MAT:MAT is conducted for admission to AIMA approved management institutes. MAT is conducted four times in a year, i.e. in the months of February, May, September and December.

Some colleges give admission on the basis of marks scored in these competitive exams, while some other colleges carry out their individual entrance exams. The skills tested in these exams are:

  • Quantitative Ability
  • Data Interpretation 
  • Verbal Ability
  • Logical Reasoning 

Every entrance test is generally followed by a Group Discussion Round and/or a Personal Interview Round.

Candidates are judged on skills like depth of subject knowledge, group behavior, leadership qualities, communication skills, use of verbal and non verbal language, effective listening, level of confidence and clarity of expression in GD/PI round.

The selection is done keeping in mind all the 3 stages of application process.

In most colleges, weightage for the entrance test score is 60-75% and the weightage for GD/PI round varies from 25-40%.
