Ques. Is it worth doing an M.Tech from Sharda University, Greater Noida, in Civil Engineering? How is the life of an M.Tech student there?

● Top Answer By Aditya Anand on 30 May 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Sharda, he mentioned that as far as B.Tech students are concerned, they get a well-experienced faculty and really good placement opportunities. But, if you are considering M.Tech at Sharda, it will be a really good decision. As an M.Tech student, you will get to choose various streams.  The college itself holds a record for being one of the best technical colleges.  It is also the only multicultural university in Delhi NCR.  Students from more than 56 different countries attend the college which will make your campus life interesting no matter which course you are enrolling in. You will receive support from the professors and mentors as well as make good friends with a life full of memories. The professors will provide you with a lot of support and help you develop your innovative ideas that are constructive enough to work on a real-time basis. You can also expect to work in highly equipped labs and enjoy state-of-the-art infrastructure. It is suggested to go for M.Tech at Sharda University, as it will be an enriching experience for you. My friend graduated from this college and is currently doing a very good job and is an entrepreneur. He enjoyed his life at Sharda so going by his opinion, you should definitely do M. Tech from here.Read more

Ques. How much marks should I score in the BITS-HD exam (M.E. in Civil Engineering) to get an admission to BITS Pilani or Hyderabad campus?

● Top Answer By Anand Singh on 14 Jan 21

Ans. The cutoff for BITS- HD is not fixed. It changes on a yearly basis depending on the difficulty level of the question paper. Both BITS Pilani and Hyderabad campus considers GATE scores too for admission. This makes the cutoff unpredictable since most of the top students can take admission through Gate leaving some space for BITS HD score. However, the previous year’s cutoff was 150 by 300 in civil structural engineering that could be considered a safe test score but depends completely on the competition of that year. The table below shows the cutoff of the last five years for Civil Engineering in BITS HD. Year Cutoff 2019 269 2018 274 2017 294 2016 314 2015 312 Last year the cut off for 150 but that will not remain fixed since it will change again in the coming next year. That depends completely upon the competition and the competitors. In the year 2018 BITS decided to take admission based upon the GATE scores as well as the BITS HD exam. So, it is hard to predict how many marks you should score to secure admission to the Civil Structure branch at BITS campuses.Read more

Admission :

The requirement of this course here is basically a graduation degree in engineering or computer field with atleast 60% aggregate score and after it a working experience of atleast 1 year in some industry or research organization or in teaching field. And GATE score is asked and is followed by an interview. I qualified all the above mentioned criteria so got selected. And this college seemed very determined and practical so i joined here.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It is a post graduation degree of 2 years which is basically done after B.E or B.TECH. The course is all into construction and management of it such as highways, bridges, airports, etc. It has a great scope and covers the subjects like: Contracts, administration & arbitration, Safety management in construction, Advanced concrete technology, etc. Each semester is followed by Electives, Laboratory practice and seminar.

Faculty :

Most of the faculties have industrial experience. They are fully qualified and experienced. They teach in the manner which will be very beneficial for us in the industries and work areas. Whatever they teach gets fix ed in our heads because they explain everything in a great detail.

Remarks :

They are asking ME students to publish paper in scopus. It's a good one. in case of publishing journals are asking fee of 8000 and so and so. Bt the staff are not ready to share the amount bt they need their name in the paper. In my case my guide had contributed the amount. Bt in my friends case she doesn't received any amount from her guide. Staff are giving their works to the students like updating their bio-data, preparing question paper for other colleges and etc. Positive remark is that there are few staff who are ready to help students by support.

Faculty :

Al were qualified bt only few were interested to teach on extra inputs. Most are interested in developing their profile with the students help. Some are providing complete notes with which we can gain knowledge about syllabus and pass the exams. Few were just discussing generally in class and not giving any notes.

Admission :

Management seat. And by writing exam they had selected me. I was interested in doing MBA but my parents want me to do ME. So I chosen management oriented engineering subject. Counseling students doesn't have any exams. Bt all the management students have entrance exam in which they have to clear to get the seat.

Placement Experience :

More than 60% of the students got placed from college. The highest salary package offered was 33 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 2 LPA. The average salary pacakge offered was of 3 LPA. Companies like Soliton, Robert Bosch, L&T, Hyundai, Fiat, Amazon, CPCL, MRF, Ninjacart, Oracle, Zoho, Oracle, Tata, and Toshiba visit the campus to recruit students. Around 60% of the students got placed in core companies. Roles offered are as a junior executive, executive engineer, assistant manager, graduate engineering trainee, and software developer.

College Events :

Many extracurricular clubs like NSS, NCC, RSP, YRC, Tamizh Mandram, Rotaract, dramatic, music, and sports were held on campus. Once you join any of the clubs, you can learn leadership, organising skills, innovative thoughts, managing skills, and much of other things. You can join any sports even without knowing that game, but you should put efforts to become a talented one. All the clubs were managed by students only with some staff guidance.

Campus Life :

Hostels were not hi-tech. It is an average college, but it feels like heaven once you leave. Hotels for 1 to 3 years students are old ones, and there were no ceiling fans available. But you can bring a table fan, and maintain it cleanly. The hostel for the final year was newly built, and it was an awesome one with facilities like a ceiling fan, study lights, etc.
