Ques. How good is the MSIT program in IIIT Hyderabad? How are the placements?

● Top Answer By Souvick Gupta on 15 May 21

Ans. Placements for MSIT programs at IIIT Hyderabad are not that great. The placement packages and profiles offered in the placement drive do not match the skill you learn in the program. If you are choosing these programs only because of placement, it will be better to consider other options. I know a little bit about this program as I have some friends who are pursuing it.  MSIT program at IIIT Hyderabad is project-oriented. If you are from CSE from your B.Tech or BE then there are options for good placements in reputed MNCs.  MSIT faculty is different from the general faculty of IIIT Hyderabad for MTech or MS.  However, the management and the placement officials are not that cooperative for placements.  So, consider all these factors carefully and talk to the students pursuing the course if necessary, before making any decision. Hope it helps. Read more

Ques. How is IIIT Hyderabad's MSIT course for a non it student ? What sort of companies recruit from the MSIT course?

● Top Answer By Khushi Sharma on 14 May 21

Ans. My brother is a student of MSIT at IIIT-H and the following points are his experience at the institute: This course is beneficial for people who already have an academic gap in their education. It is not advisable to enroll in this course if you have an IT background in your bachelor's degree; the same curriculum will be repeated with a shorter duration.  It is best not to attempt this course if you are already employed. It's better to put your efforts towards getting experience in that company. During the first phase of placements, you may have the opportunity to work for top IT companies such as Amazon, Salesforce, American Express, Apogee, and others.  If you are unable to break into those, you will eventually enter service-based companies. The highest package received by the students is 85 LPA while the average salary is 25 LPA during its recent placement package.  Hope you find this helpful.Read more

Ques. How is IIITM Gwalior for a PhD in CS/IT? Will it be better than VNIT Nagpur (taking the research in CS into consideration)?

● Top Answer By Nishkarsh Bansal on 15 Sept 20

Ans. The Doctoral Program at IIITM Gwalior is one of the best in Gujarat. There is no time restriction but usually, the program is completed in 2-5 years.  Requirements: For a P.hD in CS or IT, the student must have achieved a relevant Masters's degree along with some work experience as an added advantage. Candidates must be a 1st Class degree holder or its equivalent CGPA holder in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. Candidates are also required to qualify for GATE or have a GATE scorecard before applying for the course.  Education: Candidates pursuing P.hD programs are entitled to stipends depending on norms set by MHRD and subject to fulfillment of academic qualifications put up by the university from time to time. The professors at IIITM are experts in research and students can verify their profiles through the IIITM website. They receive the best students in science for research which is an important plus point for students looking to pursue P.hD. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology or VNIT, Nagpur also offers P.hD programs in Engineering, Architecture Planning, and Applied Sciences. It is a private university which selects candidates for its Doctoral programs based on merit.  Requirements: For applying at VNIT, students are required to have a master’s degree in their respective fields and GATE scores. Students who have qualified for Government Fellowships like DST and CSIR fellowship can also submit their applications without GATE scores. VNIT itself offers a fellowship to select students depending on their means and merit.  Comparing between the two universities, it can be seen that both have their benefits and competencies. An important factor in pursuing P.hD is the kind of research professor and peers that are available since they affect the overall environment of the course. Both universities provide an excellent environment and assistance for Doctoral Programs. Students can go for further research by looking into the professor’s backgrounds and scrutinize the research projects undertaken by alumni of the university.Read more

Course Curriculum Overview :

For phd in IT, in initial stage(mostly in the 1st semester of admission) having course work in which some regular theory papers are there and for each paper need to appear for an internal as well as the external exam. It is necessary to get atleast B Grade in course work to qualify for the PhD registration. After the course work students needs to submit their project proposal and board of school will evaluate it.
