Ph.D. in Library and Information Science: What is it about?

Ph.D. in Library and Information science: Eligibility

Candidates who seek admission in doctorate course in Library and Information needs to fulfil the following criteria:

  1. Candidates must hold an M.Phil. Degree or a post-graduate degree in a relevant field with an aggregate of 55%. (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates)
  2. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% or an equivalent ranking from a recognized university along with a minimum of five years of experience in teaching or administration industry are eligible for the course
  3. Candidates should pass the common entrance examination conducted by the university

Ph.D. in Library and Information Science: Admission Process

Candidates who seek admission for Ph.D. in Library and information science must hold a Master’s degree in Philosophy or a post-graduate degree in a relevant stream with a minimum percentage of 55% for general and 50 % for SC/ST candidates.

A minimum of five-year experience in teaching or administration industry holding a senior post also qualifies the individual for availing this course.

The selection is done on the basis of the entrance exam which is conducted by the university followed by an interview process held by respective colleges. Calculating the marks obtained in the entrance examination and interview along with the percentage secured in post-graduation level deems the basis for admission to this course.
