PMP Certification is the world's leading project management certification which equips with the skills to design, organize, execute and drive project success in any industry, regardless of project size or complexity. Only 58% of organizations fully comprehend the importance of PMP Certification. Standardized project management practices are reported to be used by 93 percent of organizations. (Project Management Institute). In 2018, 68 percent of organizations, or more than two-thirds, said they used outsourced or contract project managers, according to PMI's annual survey.

It includes a Predictive, Agile, and Hybrid approach to prove project leadership experience and expertise in the area of working.

What is PMP Certification?

Only 23% of organizations use standardized project management practices across the board. Standardized practices are used by 33% of respondents, but not across all departments. While a small percentage of organizations (7%), do not use any standard practices at all. (Project Management Institute). PMP certification is designed by project professionals, for project professionals and validates that you are among the best and highly skilled in:

  • People: emphasizing the soft skills you need to effectively lead a project team in today's changing environment.
  • Process: reinforcing the technical aspects of successfully managing projects.
  • Business Environment: highlighting the connection between projects and organizational strategy.

PMP certification validates that you have the project leadership skills which most employers seek. The new PMP includes three key approaches:

  • Predictive (waterfall)
  • Agile
  • Hybrid

Research indicates that employers will need to fill nearly 2.2 million new project-oriented roles each year through 2027. This means skilled project managers are in high demand.

Check:

Who Should do PMP Certification?

Surprisingly, 55 percent of organizations lack access to real-time KPIs. As a result, half of the respondents said they spend one or more days manually compiling project reports, highlighting the enormous productivity gains available by using project management software. The adoption of project management software is changing slowly but steadily. Between 2017 and 2018, the percentage of organizations using spreadsheets to manage agile projects fell from 74% to 67%. Instead, these organizations shifted to specialized project management tools.

  • The one who is looking forward to understanding the Project Management practices as according to PMI can go ahead with this PMP certification.
  • Someone who is looking forward to getting growth in their career aspiration and wants to add some value to their profile by adding a PMP certification then this makes sense.

  • If you are already working in and around various projects and now looking forward to some profile in Management then one can think of doing PMP Certification.

Why Study PMP Certification?

Project management software is used by 77% of high-performing projects. Despite its importance, the adoption of project management software remains low (22 percent - see above). Sixty-six percent of project managers say they would use project management software more extensively if their organization provided adequate support. Only one project management system was used by 56% of organizations. Organizations spend an average of $861 per month on project management software. On-premise PM software is used by the majority (54 percent), but this is rapidly changing. (Source: Capterra)

PMP Certification Exam

PMP Certification exam has evolved to meet today’s demands of the profession, organizations and you. It focuses on three domains you need to gain a competitive edge and prove you work smarter:

  • People – emphasizing the soft skills you need to effectively lead a project team in today's changing environment.
  • Process – reinforcing the technical aspects of successfully managing projects.
  • Business Environment – highlighting the connection between projects and organizational strategy.

Exam Layout

  • 180 questions (the previous exam was 200), multiple-choice questions are part of the PMP certification test. Out of these 180 problems, 25 are pretest questions. Knowing that you have 230 minutes to answer 180 questions is enough to brace you for it.
  • There is a misconception among aspirants that the PMP certification exam questions are specifically based on the content of the Fifth Edition of PMI's Project Management Body of Information (PMBoK v6).
  • The PMP certification exam questions are in fact based on the PMP Exam Material Outline, not the PMBoK v6. The mapping between the questions / PMP Exam Material Description and the PMBoK v6 is not 100 percent, but there is a clear overlap.
  • A Position Delineation Analysis that determines a certification holder's on-the-job duties is the central factor in designing the PMP certification examination information outline. This is achieved by a series of panels of project team members practicing, and additional survey input from a broad sample of project managers dispersed by geography, industry, and job position.

This exercise forms the foundation of the following distribution of questions of project management across particular realms.

Domain Percentage of Items on Test
People 42%
Process 50%
Business Environment 8%
Total 100%

In each PMP certification exam distribution, the individual PMP certification test questions are monitored by psychometric analysis, and subject matter experts distributed internationally are used to classify each difficulty point and the passing score for each exam.

The online PMP certification exam is just the same as the test center version: the same standard, the same questions, and even a live proctor is there.
