AFCAT 2018: Result, Cutoff, Counselling, Selection Process

AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is an entrance test for the aspirants who want to join Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officer in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-Technical). AFCAT is held twice a year in the months of February and August. AFCAT 02/2018 will be conducted on August 18 and 19 August 18, 2018 in online mode.

  • Another component was added to AFCAT 2018 by the name of Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).
  • EKT or Engineering Knowledge Test is a meant to test candidate’s engineering knowledge. The test is compulsory for candidates applying for Technical Ground Duty branch. Check EKT Syllabus and Books
  • Those who qualify will be called for the second round of evaluation.
  • In the SSB round the candidates would be evaluated comprehensively for their personality traits, oratory skills, physical fitness, tactical sense, team work, and vocabulary skills.
  • The SSB interview process goes on for five days.
  • On the Fifth and final day a conference is held where the candidates are informed about their performance in the SSB process and the names of recommended candidates are announced.

AFCAT 2018 Eligibility

Candidates who are willing to undertake AFCAT 2018 must check, whether they fulfill the desired eligibility criteria or not. The AFCAT 2018 Eligibility varies for different branches/departments. The eligibility criterion for different branches/courses is mentioned below for your reference.

AFCAT Application Form 2018

Application Form for AFCAT 2018 has been available in online mode only. No offline mode of submission of application is there. The step by step registration cum application process is mentioned below for your reference.

Registration

  • Go to the official career website of Indian Air force.
  • Click on Candidates login section.
  • A new web page would be opened. Fill in the registration details asked for new users like name; e-mail ID, mobile number etc.
  •  Click on submit. A new registration ID and password would be sent to the registered E-mail address.

Application Form Filling

  • Fill in the details as per the directions given on the webpage.
  • Select the preference of branch, AFCAT exam center, Subject for EKT exam etc.
  • Upload Your signature and Photograph (as per dimensions provided in the notification).
  • Click on submit.

Payment of Application Fee

 Candidates filling AFCAT Application Form 2018 will have to pay an application fee of INR 250 via online mode only. Earlier, no chrages were implied to fill in the application form, however, this year onwards candidates of each category must remit the given amount.

For online payment, use debit card/credit card or net banking options, while for offline payment take a printed copy of challan and pay the fee in nearest HDFC or Axis bank branch.


AFCAT 2018 Admit Card

The admit card for AFCAT 2/2018  has been realesed on August 02, 2018 on the official website. AFCAT authorities will send the admit card on the registered email id. No offline mode is exercised to dispatch AFCAT 2018 Admit Card.

Candidates can download their AFCAT 2018 Admit Card by following the below- mentioned steps:

  • Go to the Career Website of Indian Air force.
  • Click on Candidates login section.
  • A login window will appear.
  • Type your E-mail ID and password to login and download the admit card.
  • Window showing admit card will appear.
  • Click on download admit card.
  • After downloading the admit card take a printout of the same.

AFCAT 2018 Exam Center

AFCAT 2018 would be held in various cities across the country. Candidates would be asked to give four to five choices of examination cities at the time of application process. AFCAT 2018 Exam Pattern

AFCAT 2018 would comprise two parts- AFCAT paper and the other EKT (only for Technical Branch). EKT would be held on the same day after AFCAT exam. The AFCAT 2018 Exam Pattern of both the exams is tabulated below:

AFCAT 2018 Syllabus

AFCAT 2018 Syllabus is similar to the general aptitude portion of any other government exam where questions are asked from Quantitative Aptitude, English, GK, Current Affairs, and logical reasoning. All the sections from AFCAT 2018 Syllabus are allotted equal weightage in the paper with reasoning section having just a bit more questions assigned to it.

EKT syllabus is completely overlapped with the Engineering level syllabus of the respective branch for which candidate has applied to take EKT exam. Candidates can refer to their Engineering level books and sources for EKT exam.

AFCAT 2018 Recommended Books

Candidates can refer to the general aptitude book for any other government exam for which aptitude portion is common with AFCAT. Candidates should also refer previous year AFCAT and EKT paper for more comprehensive and holistic understanding of the questions asked. The list of recommended books is tabulated below.

AFCAT 2018 Result and AFSB Selection Process

The results of AFCAT 2018 would be announced in the month of May/June 2018 on the official website. The exact date for AFCAT Result announcement would be made public through AFCAT 2018 official notification. Candidates would be able to check their results by undertaking the following simple steps.

  • Visit AFCAT 2018 official website.
  • Click on AFCAT 2018 results.
  • A Pdf containing roll number of selected candidate will appear.
  • Download the Pdf.
  • Search your Roll Number in list.

The shortlisted candidates’ name will appear in the merit list. Those who qualify will have to go through AFSB Selection Process for which date and venue has to be chosen by visiting the official website. For Flying Branch candidates, once in a lifetime test would be conducted namely, Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

    Hello Chaitanya, If you have submitted application and mistake may stop you appearing in AFCAT written test, it may not be possible. Better contact IAF.

    Hello Manjula, For Flying and Technical duty Candidates must have secured 60% marks in class 12 with Physics and Mathematics. For Non Technical duty Candidates must have secured 60% marks in graduation in any discipline.
