1. Prioritise Science and Mathematics: These two subjects are compulsory qualifiers. High marks here directly improve your merit rank; Mathematics also serves as a tie-breaker between students with equal aggregate scores.
2. Target a high HSLC aggregate: DTE Assam calculates merit from your overall HSLC percentage across all subjects. Aim for at least 70%+ aggregate to remain competitive for sought-after diploma branches like Computer Science and Electronics.
3. Build strong Physics and Chemistry foundations: Popular engineering diploma branches — Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical — are highly competitive. Your HSLC Science performance also forms the foundation of your polytechnic coursework.
4. Do not neglect non-science subjects: English, Social Science, and elective subjects all count toward your aggregate percentage. Balanced board preparation raises your overall merit rank.
5. Apply early and accurately: Submit the online application on the official portal (dte-assamadm.samarth.ac.in) within the announced deadline. Errors in HSLC marks entry can disqualify your application.
