BCECE 2020 PATTERN & SYLLABUS
STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
BCECE Exam Pattern 2020 has been released by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. As per the updated exam pattern of BCECE 2020, the exam will be conducted in a single stage in offline mode. BCECE 2020 is scheduled for June 29 (Agriculture group) and June 30 (PCMB group). The exam is conducted for admission to Agriculture, Pharmacy and Health Science courses in around 17 member institutions. Read BCECE 2020 Syllabus
BCECE Question Paper has sections as per the subject group chosen by the candidate. Each section contains 100 MCQs. Following are the group options:

From this year onwards, BCECEB has eliminated the two-staged exam rounds of the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. There will be a single offline exam for all courses. Hence, change in the marking scheme has also been notified. From now on, each question will carry 4 marks and -1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect response.

These are some important instructions that candidates should follow while appearing for BCECE:
Ques. Is there any negative marking in BCECE exam?
Ans. Yes, there is a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. Also from 2020 onwards, there will be only one paper, unlike previous years.
Ques. Will there be any instructions provided on how to navigate through the question paper during the BCECE exam and whether I can go back and answer any answered question?
Ans. BCECE exam will now be conducted in offline mode i.e. using pen and paper. So, there will not be any navigation issues which we may have in online exam.
Ques. Do I need to prepare for descriptive questions from Physics or Biology?
Ans. No, the questions asked in the exam will be multiple choice based objective type. You need to select only 1 correct answer out of 4.
Ques. Will the question paper be provided in English?
Ans. The question paper will have questions in both English and Hindi.
Ques. What subjects do I need to choose to write Pharmacy examination?
Ans. The mandatory subjects required for Pharmacy examination are Physics and Chemistry. Also, another optional subject needs to be chosen from either Mathematics or Biology.
Ques. What is the marking pattern for engineering course in BCECE?
Ans. Each of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics contain 100 questions each and each question carries 4 marks. The total marks for all the 3 subjects are 1200.
Ques. Is Organic Chemistry an important chapter for Chemistry section in BCECE exam?
Ans. Yes, around 8% questions were asked from the Organic Chemistry principles and sections in the previous years. So, this is a fairly important chapter from Chemistry section.
Ques. Will there be any grace timing provided during the examination if I am not able to complete the exam on time?
Ans. No, each subject is allotted a timing of 1.5 hours and need to be completed in that time. Grace time will not be provided if the paper is not completed within that stipulated time.
Ques. What topics in Agriculture cover more weightage that needs to be prepared thoroughly for the examination?
Ans. Agrometeorology, Horticulture, Livestock Production, Crop Production are some of the important topics in Agriculture which has more weightage.
Ques. What is the best way to prepare for BCECE?
Ans. If candidates have already gone through all the topics as per the syllabus, last minute revision is really important. The concepts and important formulae need to be revised. Also, solve previous years’ papers and take as many mock tests as possible to be familiar with the examination pattern and finish the exam on time.
Ques. Can I apply for DCECE to get enrolled in the Engineering colleges as offered after completing BCECE exam?
Ans. DCECE is Diploma Certificate Entrance competitive examination for courses in Polytechnic engineering, matric and intermediate level Para medical courses. Hence, both the exams are different and one cannot get into the same courses through DCECE which BCECE offers.
Ques. I am from Darjeeling Government College. Can I write this exam to get into any other college?
Ans. Yes, if the candidate passes the qualifying exam with the required marks, that candidate can write this BCECE exam and can take admission in any Government college based on the criteria of that college. They will not be able to apply for any reservation.
Ques. I selected PCMB as my subject in the examination. Which degree courses can I choose after completing the exam?
Ans. Candidates with PCMB as a subject can take up either Engineering or Medical stream. Apart from that, candidates can also choose B.Sc degree in any program of their interest.
Ques. I was not able to choose any examination center while applying for BCECE. How can I specify my center now?
Ans. Examination centers for BCECE are randomly allocated to students. There is no option to choose any specific examination center.
Ques. Are there any other state level entrance examinations for getting admission in Government Engineering Colleges in Bihar?
Ans. Apart from BCECE examination, a candidate can also try to secure good marks in JEE Mains and Advanced to get into NIT/IIT/IIIT colleges in Bihar.

Ques. What topics are given more weightage in Biology paper?
Ans. Syllabus for Biology consists of subjects from class 11 and 12. Usually Class 11 subjects are given more weightage. The topics which are given more weightage are as follows:
