    Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar (IIM Amritsar) has announced on its official website the cut-off for its admissions. IIM Amritsar offers admission through CAT scores to their postgraduate MBA programme. Significant improvements in IIM Amritsar cut-off can be noted since its inauguration year, 2015. Starting with a typical cut-off of 96.30 for the starting batch (2015), the cut-off for 2016 batch dropped to 95.6 and remained stable at 90 until 2018.     • Many important aspects relating to the IIM Amritsar cut-off will be addressed in this article, such as the cut-off for various categories (both sectional and overall) and the selection process. The list of shortlisted candidates based on CAT scores was released on January 22, 2020. On May 20, 2020, IIM Amritsar announced the first MBA 2020 admission list.

    • The country's 15th IIM Amritsar will pursue a two-stage selection process for the 6th batch of PGP 2020-22. Shortlisted candidates are called for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds based on their CAT ranking.

    IIM Amritsar's cut-off for the general category was 85. Compared to previous years, the cut-off had substantially decreased and, unlike other IIMs, it was below 90.     IIM Amritsar Cut-off 2018

    No changes were noted in IIM Amritsar's cut-off for 2018 and its preceding year. The cut-off was identical to the previous year, apart from the cut-off for PwD candidates that went down from 35 to 30. IIM Amritsar cut-off for the year 2018 is listed in the following table:

    IIM Amritsar Cut-off 2017

    The total percentile cut-off of IIM Amritsar for the general category has fallen substantially as compared to its previous year. The cut-off fell from 95.6 percentile to 90 percentile. The cut-off for candidates belonging to the SC and PwD category was observed to have very minor changes.

    IIM Amritsar Cut-off 2016

    In 2015, the CAT exam pattern was modified. The revised paper pattern is composed of three sections. Visible shifts in the 2016 IIM cut-off were observed as compared with 2015. Changes for the general category were found in the overall cut-off, as it dropped from 96.30 to 95.60. The percentile dropped by 3.98 for the NC-OBC. This fell by seven percentile for SC candidates. A significant decrease was observed for ST and PwD candidates in the percentile, as it fell by 15 and 10 percentile.

    IIM Amritsar Cut-off 2015

    The CAT 2014 paper pattern was different from the current examination pattern. Earlier, the CAT paper consisted of only two sections of quantitative ability and data interpretation. The other section consisted of verbal ability and logical reasoning. For the general category, the standard percentile set for all the third-generation IIMs for their 2015 batches was 96.30.

    Eligibility Criteria for IIM Amritsar

    IIM Amritsar 2020 Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with an average of at least 50 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA (45 percent marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
    • Upon completing Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board, applicants must obtain a Bachelor's degree or equivalent for a term of at least three years.
    • In the case that the applicant is given grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalent will be made on the basis of the equivalence accredited by the institute/university from which the applicant received a Bachelor's degree. If the institute has no particular scheme to convert CGPA into marks, IIM Amritsar will do the equivalent by dividing the total CGPA obtained by the highest possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
    • Applicants who are in the final year of their Bachelor's degree or any other equivalent exam or those who have showed up for their final year exam and are awaiting results can also apply.
    • A final year student deemed qualified by IIM Amritsar and offered admission is expected to submit his/her mark sheet and a final year Bachelor's examination degree certificate obtained on or before 30 June 2020. The last date for presenting such a certificate and mark sheet is 31 December 2020.
    • In addition to the academic qualification, applicants must bear in mind that they are expected to appear in CAT 2020 and must achieve the minimum desired score in the entrance test to be considered eligible for admission to the IIM Amritsar postgraduate programme.
    • Working professionals and entrepreneurs with full-time job experience of at least 6 months after graduation (as on 31 March, 2020) is required.

    IIM Amritsar 2020: Application Process

    The following are the important details pertaining to the application process for admission to the MBA programme in IIM Amritsar -

    • Candidates wishing to apply to IIM Amritsar must register for the CAT.
    • CAT payment fee was INR 1,900 (SC / ST categories had to pay INR 950).
    • Candidates must remember that they do not have to apply and pay application fee separately for admission to IIM Amritsar.
    • Following the outcome of the CAT 2020 declaration, candidates will be able to confirm whether or not they will get shortlisted for admission to IIM Amritsar.

    IIM Amritsar Admission Process

    Step 1 - Candidates must have appeared in CAT 2020 and scored the minimum required percentile.

    Step 2 - Applicants are short-listed for WAT and PI screening from those holding a valid CAT 2020 score and have applied to the postgraduate course at IIM Amritsar and meet the minimum eligibility criteria required for admission here.

    Step 3 - After the WAT and PI screening, the successful candidates will be considered for the final stage by IIM Amritsar. The final selection for the IIM Amritsar postgraduate programme will be made on the basis of a variety of criteria, including success in CAT, success in WAT and PI, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, and work experience.

    Step 4 - The final admission offer will be made to the applicants based on the Final Composite Score (FCS) which grants 25% weightage to the PI round's score, 10% weightage to the WAT score, 25% weightage to the CAT score, 10% weightage to the work experience, and 20% weightage to the academic record of the candidate.

    IIM Amritsar Admission Fees

    The admission fee for the 2020-22 batch in IIM Amritsar Postgraduate Programme is provided below. Note that the fee can be updated at any time.

    • Total fees are INR 9,00,000 for the two year MBA programme of 2020-22.
    • The fee is INR 4,50,000 per year (2020-21 and 2021-22).
    • The fees cover the expenses of the Tuition, Books and Case Content, Library, IT & Computer, Hostel and Electrical, Medical and Student Activities.
    • The mess and personal costs are not included in the fees set out above. The expense of the mess is expected to be around INR 10,000 per month, to be paid on an actual basis.

    IIM Amritsar Selection Process

    IIM Amritsar Selection Process 2020

    Candidates need to undergo a two-stage selection process to get selected at IIM Amritsar. The two stages are listed below -

    Stage 1 - Pre-Personal Interview Process

    It is the first screening step for applicants eligible through CAT scores. Here, candidates for WAT and PI are selected based on their CAT score, which is fixed for all categories.

    Stage 2 - Shortlisting on the basis of WAT/PI

    Candidates need to appear at this stage for a 20-minute written ability test, followed by a personal interview. Candidates are then shortlisted to prepare a final shortlist based on stage 1, WAT / PI score, and other parameters given below.
