CAT 2020 Paper Analysis for DI/LR: Section-wise Analysis

    Data Interpretaion and Logical Reasoning is considered one of the most time consuming sections of CAT. It consist of questions which involve high level of calculations and logic. Total number of questions in DI/LR are 34 in MCQ and Non MCQ format. In CAT 2019 slot 1 DILR was a notch difficult with no changes in pattern. DILR was relatively easier than past year. Slot 2 observed no changes in pattern but the level of difficulty was much higher than morning session. 

    The difficulty level of DI/LR is moderate to high. In order to score good enough practice should be done on a variety of questions.     CAT Paper Analysis 2019 for DILR

    Some Data Interpretation sets were not difficult to analyse. the trick was to identify the easier sets and solving them with speed. There was an increase in Logical Reasoning sets compared to last year. Tournament and crime based sets were in particular difficult to attempt. There was absence of venn diagram set in slot 1.

    CAT Paper Analysis 2018 for DILR

    • CAT 2018 was held on November 25, 2019 in two slots. 
    • There was a total of 32 questions in DILR section of CAT. 
    • Among 32 questions, there were 8 non-MCQs without negative marking. 
    • The overall difficulty level of the section was difficult.

    CAT Paper Analysis 2017 for DILR 

    • CAT 2017 was held on November 26 in two slots- morning and afternoon.
    • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning sections had 32 questions in total. 
    • There were 8 sets with 4 questions in each set. 
    • The section had a time limit of 60 minutes.
    • Questions Distribution: 16 Questions on DI; 16 on LR and 8 non-MCQs.
    • The difficulty level of this section was high as the questions were lengthy and calculative.

    CAT Paper Analysis 2014 for DI/LR

    • CAT 2014 was conducted on November 16 and November 24. 
    • DI was combined with QA, and LR was combined with English.
    • Both DI and LR had 4 sets each. Each set consisted of 4 questions. 
    • There was no sectional time limit — estimated. Estimated time required to attempt each set of DI or LR was 10-12 minutes.
    • The level of questions of DI in slot 2 was easier than the ones in slot 1.
    • A good attempt was of 10-12 question in DI and 12-14 questions in LR.
