CAT 2020 (Nov 29), Application Form Correction, Syllabus, Preparation, Result & Cut Off
CAT 2020 is scheduled for November 29, 2020, registration process for which has ended on September 23, 2020. IIM Indore has opened the Application Form Edit Window for CAT 2020 from September 27 – 29, 2020.
IIM Indore will be administering the entire CAT 2020 process as per the new exam pattern issued on September 15, 2020. The paper will be conducted in three shifts as per the slot timings released by IIM Indore:
- Morning: 8.30 AM to 10.30 AM
- Afternoon: 12.30 PM to 2.30 PM
- Evening: 4.30 PM to 6.30 PM

- As per CAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria candidates having bachelors degree with minimum 50% marks can apply for the exam. Final year undergraduate students can also apply though they have to produce passing certificate at the time of counselling.
- CAT 2020 Application fee has been increased, General/OBC candidates have to pay INR 2000 whereas SC/ST/PWD/EWS aspirants are required to pay INR 1000.
- CAT 2020 will take place in over 376 exam centers in 156 cities in two slots morning and afternoon. Furthermore, the authorities also release official mock tests prior to the actual exam date, in order to give the applicants a basic idea about CAT Exam Pattern.
- Candidates will be tested on their Quantitative, Verbal/Reading, Data Interpretation and Reasoning Skills. A total of 100 MCQ & Non-MCQ questions are to be attempted in 3 hour duration, with sectional time limit of 60 minutes.

Ques: Which IIM will be coordinating CAT 2020?
Ans: IIM Indore in an official statement declared that it will be coordinating CAT 2020. Official notification with complete details will release on last saturday of July 2020
Will CAT 2020 be Postponed?
As per reports, despite several COVID-19 disruptions, CAT 2020 will neither be cancelled nor be postponed. CAT aspirants need not worry as CAT 2020 will not face the same fate as that of many other competitive exams in India. IIM Indore Director Prof Himanshu Rai and CAT convener Prof Harshal Lowalekar ahve confirmed the news.
“I am certain, we will conduct CAT 2020 successfully despite all the challenges.” said Prof Himanshu Rai, Director IIM Indore. No changes are expected in CAT 2020 schedule and CAT exam pattern. CAT 2020 website is live from August. Candidates who are appearing for CAT 2020 should make regular visits either here or to the official website to stay updated with latest dates and information about the exam.
However, some experts feel that CAT 2020 might be cancelled or get further postponed due to the following reasons:
- According to the COVID-19 pandemic study of India, reports highlight that coronavirus may reach its peak in the month of November if no vaccine is made available. November is the examination month for CAT 2020.
- Students are currently protesting for postponement of top engineering and medical examinations like JEE Main and NEET. The same scenario may get repeated with CAT.

CAT Eligibility Criteria: Who can apply?
Candidates with appropriate degrees and required percentage in qualifying examination are eligible to apply for CAT 2020. Below given is detailed information about CAT 2020.
Educational Eligibility for CAT 2020
- Applicants with Bachelor’s degrees – These should be from accredited universities. Furthermore, students should have at least 50% marks or the equivalent GPA.
- Applicants with a professional degree, such as a CA, CS, or ICWA, with the same marks as the Bachelor’s candidates.
- Students in their final year of their Bachelor’s degrees.
The applying candidate will have to have university or institution certify the marks. If the university doesn’t have a system for converting CGPA into marks accepted by the IIM, then the testmakers are suggested to divide their CGPA by the maximum CGPA possible, then multiply it by 100.
Student Eligibility for CAT 2020
Students who wish to continue their studies right after their undergraduate degrees are often in bewliderment if they are eligible for CAT. Students pursuing their final year are very well eligible to apply for CAT 2020. If selected for an IIM program, such candidates will have to then submit a certificate from their university or institution to show that they have completed the requirements.

Ans.Candidates who are appearing for supplementary re-exams are eligible to apply for CAT, there is no restriction for such candidates. Given the condition they score more than 50% in graduation (45% for reserved candidates) even in re-exams. How to Apply for CAT 2020?
Candidates can register for CAT exam via an online form available at the IIM’s official website and are advised to go through the instructions prior to filling up CAT application form. Students with a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized institute/college/university are eligible for CAT exam.
