How to Prepare for CLAT Logical Reasoning?

CLAT Logical Reasoning tests your knowledge and ability to understand, critically analyse, Infer and identify arguments. This section is easily one of the most scoring sections, as it has been comparatively easier than the other sections in the previous years papers. The key to giving the best attempt in this paper is to understand the rationale and logic behind each type of question. Read below to find out the best way to prepare for CLAT Logical Reasoning.

    • Understand, don’t memorise: Your ability to memorise is not at all beneficial for this section. To score well in this session you will have to be thorough with each kind of question. Make sure that you understand the logic behind each type of question, as the questions that are asked in the exam might be confusing to a lot of people. If you understand how to solve each question quickly, this will help save time as well as give you the best chance at scoring well.
    • Practice: Each section requires plenty of practice, but it is especially required for the logical reasoning section and the quantitative techniques section of CLAT. Given that you have a solid understanding of the method in which the question has to be solved, practising will help solidify the method into your brain which will in turn help you solve questions instantly. This not only saves time, but also makes the process of learning easier.
    • Make Studying Fun: If you are the kind of person that enjoys challenges, this section is definitely for you. Once you have got the crux of the question and have enough practise, you will be able to solve the question rather quickly and you can try harder questions. Since this section relies solely on your ability to understand the logic of the passage, it can be quite interesting to solve.
    • Start with easy questions, then move on to harder ones: If you are starting a certain kind of question, start with very easy ones. You can also start with questions that are already solved, as this will give you an idea of how to do it correctly. Once you get the hang of the question start solving harder ones. However, do not take up something that is too complex as it might confuse you and lower your confidence.
    • Use Shortcuts: For each kind of question, there is a way to solve it faster by using shortcuts. These can include making a mind map, diagrams etc. This is especially helpful for questions like blood relations, syllogisms etc. You can find very good tutorials on these online, on YouTube and other such platforms.
    • Solve CLAT Mock Tests and Sample Question Papers: This is very important, as CLAT has a rather unique question pattern as opposed to other exams. You will be given questions based on passages, which no other exam has. So, it is important to understand how well you fare at reading passages. This will also help improve your timing and improve confidence.
