CUSAT CAT Engineering 2017 Exam Pattern

CUSATCAT 2017 Engineering Exam (Cochin University of Science & Technology Common Admission Test) is held every year for admissions to Engineering programs. CUSAT CAT 2017 Engineering Exam will be conducted in the last week of April. There are two time slots for the exam. First slot for CUSAT CAT B. Tech 2017 will be from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, whereas, second slot will be from 2 PM to 5 PM.

The candidate has to reach CUSAT CAT B. Tech Exam Centre on time and must carry the CUSAT CAT 2017 Admit Card Engineering Exam along with him or her. The entrance test will comprise of objective type multiple choice questions. Maximum marks for the test will be 750 and the candidates will be given 3 hours to complete the exam.

The marking for CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 will be such that for every correct answer three marks each will be rewarded whereas one mark each will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be no marking for an answered question.

CUSAT CAT 2017 Engineering Exam Marking Scheme

In CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 test, for every correct answer 3 marks each will be awarded whereas 1 mark each will be deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates must score minimum of 10 marks for Mathematics and 10 marks for Physics and Chemistry put together to qualify for the exam.

There will be no minimum marks of eligibility for the reserved categories i.e. SC/ST (Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes). For better understanding here is a table specifying the marking scheme in CUSAT CAT B. Tech 2017.

Time Duration

Common Admission Test (CAT B. Tech.) for CUSAT will be conducted in two time slots.

The CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 test will last for 3 hours or 180 minutes. Candidate will be presented with 125 questions to attempt for mathematics within 1.5 hours. 125 questions for Physics and Chemistry in 3:2 put together have to be answered in 1.5 hours.

While preparing for CUSAT CAT Engineering 2017 there are several mistakes that a candidate might make. It is necessary to keep yourself calm minded and focused while preparing as well as attempting the test. Here are some tips to prepare for CUSAT CAT Engineering 2017 and a list of some Dos and Don’ts is given below:

List of DOs

  • Candidates must join a good coaching class to prepare for CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 to get some additional tips and tricks of preparation and success in CUSAT CAT B. Tech. Engineering Exam.
  • It is important to study on a regular basis to keep in touch with the topics covered in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in class 11 and class 12.
  • Candidates must solve previous year question papers to excel in the CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 test.
  • Regular practice from the sample papers and previous year question papers will be beneficial for the candidates appearing for CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017. It not only gives the idea of the type of questions that might be asked in the question paper but also helps in knowing the capabilities of the candidate himself/herself.

Also, if candidate feels under prepared he/she must clear his/her mind and be confident of  whatever he/she has prepared and not get affected what others have been preparing for.
  • Studying Selective Topics- it is very important to study each and every topic carefully. Candidates must start preparing for CUSAT CAT B. Tech. 2017 beforehand. If the candidate does not prepare or study every topic he/she might be facing the consequences while attempting the questions. It would be playing with one’s own future if a candidate himself/herself chooses not to prepare fully and study selective topics.
  • Studying for Long Hours- This is the most common mistake that every candidate might make. It is very important to take breaks at short intervals of time to refresh yourself. It is scientifically proved that a human brain cannot concentrate for too long a period. To grasp the topics efficiently, candidate must indulge in recreational activities and take short breaks at regular intervals.
