    DU B.Ed Entrance Exam is conducted by DU itself for candidates who want to take admission in a two year course of Bachelor in Education. During the course, candidates will not be allowed to pursue any other full time degree course simultaneously. There is no such notice for 2020, but as per the last year statistics DU B.Ed Application Form is expected to be released in the first week of May 2020.

    The entance exam will be MCQ based divided into three sections. According to DU B.Ed Exam Pattern, Paper-I consists of questions from GK & Reasoning, Paper-II consist of Subject knowledge up to class X, Paper-III consist of questions from Language Proficiency in Hindi & English. DU authority releases result in the form of merit list for each category (GEN/ SC/ ST/ OBC).

    Delhi University sets the eligibility criteria for B.Ed program. The eligibility criteria varies according to the category. There is a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate for OBC category. Check Eligibility Criteria for DU B.Ed given below:

    Candidates with at least 50% marks in aggregate either in Bachelor’s Degree and / or in the Master’s Degree in Science / Social Science /Humanities/ Commerce or any other qualification equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the programme.Candidates with at least 55% marks in aggregate in Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology and specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the programme.

    Eligibility for Choosing Teaching Subject

    Candidates have to choose one subject within a subject category which they must have studied in the qualifying degree for at least 200 marks and obtained at least 50% marks in this subject. This subject category chosen by the candidate will be considered final for preparing merit list and allocation of institutions. The subject chosen by the candidate from the subject category will be considered as the teaching subject and will remain to be the same throughout the B.Ed. programme.

    Note: Request for change in subject category will not be entertained under any circumstances for allocation of institutions and seats.

    DU B.Ed Application Form

    DU B.Ed Application Form 2020

    DU B.Ed Application Form will be available tentatively from first week of May 2020 on the official website i.e. www.cie.du.ac.in. Candidates must ensure the eligibility before filling up the online application form. Candidates willing to apply for DU B.Ed can check the step-wise procedure as mentioned below:

    How to apply?

    • Visit the University of Delhi website and go to Post graduate admission Portal and register yourself first. i.e. admission.du.ac.in
    • Go to the link of CIE i.e. cie.du.ac.in. Download B.Ed prospectus and read all the instructions carefully.
    • Click on the Apply Online link and fill the required details in the application form such as personal, educational details.
    • Select the Subject Category, one teaching subject and Centre of examination very carefully.
    • Make the payment through online mode (Credit/ Debit card or net banking) or in offline mode through Challan at any SBI branch.
    • Verify all the entered details in the application form and click on the submit button.
    • No changes in the form are allowed once the payment has been made. After the payment is made, take a print-out of the form and bring it along on the day of admission at the allocated institution.

    Exam Pattern & Syllabus

    The admissions in B.Ed will be done through Entrance Test conducted by the university. The paper consists of 100 multiple choice questions from Reasoning, General Knowledge, Language Proficiency and Fundamentals. Each question carries 4 marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The total duration of the examination is two hours. The medium of the paper is bilingual i.e. English and Hindi.     Here, we take a comprehensive look at all the sections, check the type of questions which are asked in the examination in each section.

    Reasoning and General Awareness - This section contains questions that would test the candidate’s general knowledge and awareness of social, political, environmental, and economic issues. The section also contains questions to examine the perspectives and analysis of and responses to teaching and learning situations.Reasoning will assess the mathematical, logical, and verbal reasoning abilities. It will also assess candidates’ abilities to analyse and interpret data and find solutions to problematic situations.

    Subject Knowledge up to class 10thThis section will contain questions based on understanding and application of concepts in Science, Social Science and Mathematics up to secondary level.

    Language Proficiency – This section will assess reading comprehension in both English and Hindi.


    DU B.Ed Admit Card

    DU B.Ed Admit Card will be issued to only those candidates who have successfully completed the application process. Candidates can download the DU B.Ed Admit Card by providing their Application ID and Password on the official website. No candidate is allowed to appear for entrance test without admit card. An admit card is an important document as it contains Roll Number, Address of the Exam Center, Exam Timing and Reporting Time etc. Check the following steps to know that how to download admit card.

    • Go to the official website of DU admissions. i.e. cie.du.ac.in
    • Click on the link of admit card and enter the login credentials.
    • Click on the submit button and the admit card page will appear on the screen.
    • Take a printout of the page for its future reference.

    On the basis of the performance in the entrance test, a merit list of all candidates, who take the test, will be displayed on the Website of the University/Department. Depending on the rank in the merit list of their respective category of the candidate, subject category, availability of seats and preference of the institutions, candidates will be allocated to different institutions. Display of name in the merit list does not indicate final selection for admission. The overall merit list will comprise of candidates of all categories. No one will be excluded from the same. The Unreserved (UR) merit list will also include SC/ST/OBC/PwD/CW candidates in the order of merit.

    DU B.Ed merit list for qualified candidates will be displayed on the official list and candidates can check the rank they have secured. The qualifying marks for general category is 20 out of 100 marks while it is 18 marks for reserved categories. 


    DU B.Ed Result Tie Breaker

    Incase there is a tie in result then the university guidelines will be followed. Each subject may have a different merit list on the basis of rank in the Entrance exam and number of seats available. For instance, There may be high rank in merit for Science/Social Science and may get seat at high rank. Whereas, the seat may get filled with lower rank in merit for Home Science category as the seats are more in Home Science. Incase there is a tie between any two candidates then the age criteria is taken under consideration and the candidate with higher age is given preference.

    There are various factors involved in the allotment of institution such as merit in the entrance test, candidate’s category, subject category, availability of teaching subjects across institutions and candidate’s preference of institutions, hence, candidates are not allowed to change their allotted institution. Similarly, no change of institution is allowed from one admission list to subsequent admission lists. Any mutual swapping of institutions amongst candidates is also not allowed. The Faculty of Education treats all institutions as equal with dedicated staff and adequate support system.


    Important Instructions Regarding DU B.Ed Admission 2020

    The candidates shortlisted for the admission must be present at the stipulated date and time, at their allotted institutions, along with the below listed documents:

    • Photo ID Proof
    • Print out of their filled in Application/Registration Form
    • Admit Card of Entrance Test d. Two latest passport size photographs
    • Original and two sets of photocopies of relevant documents as mentioned in Table below 
    I. High School/Secondary School Certificate for verification of date of birth.
    II. A detailed Statement of Marks of Part- I, II and III at Graduation. In case of Post-graduation being the eligibility, a Statement of Marks at Master’s level.
    III. Provisional certificate or degree of the qualifying examination.
    IV. Relevant certificates/documents from a competent authority, establishing the candidate’s claim for reservation, for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
    V. Character Certificate from the institution last attended or from any gazetted officer (valid for six months from the date of issue).
    VI. In the case of candidates in service, a No Objection Certificate from the employer and a letter of sanction of study leave for a period of two years.

    Note : Students have to arrrange the documents in the serial order mentioned in the table above.

    Women candidates can choose any of the four institutions, depending on availability of seats in the respective subjects and categories. LIC is open only for women candidates offering Home Science. Men and Other Gender candidates have only two institutions as Choice of Institution - DoE (CIE) & MVCE. The candidates will have to complete the admission related formalities within the stipulated period of time in the respective institutions allotted to them. If they fail to do so, the offer will be withdrawn and the seats will be allotted to candidates next in the merit list of the subsequent admission list. Their selection will stand automatically cancelled without any further notice. The candidates who do not have their results of the qualifying degree shall not be allowed for provisional admission. Such candidate may be considered for admission in the subsequent admission lists, provided below:

    • The candidate reports to the allocated institutions on the dates mentioned when his / her names appear in the merit list.
    • The Admission Committee, in the light of the University guidelines, allows the candidate a limited time period after taking an undertaking from the candidate, to present the documents within the given time period.

    B.Ed. students are not permitted to take up any employment (full-time or part-time). The employed candidates admitted to the B.Ed. Programme will have to produce valid sanction of leave from the employer.

    Reservation Criteria

    DU B.Ed 2020 Reservation Criteria

    The seats reserved for SC/ ST category will be filled by those candidates only. In the case of non-availability of the eligible candidates the reserved seats may be interchanged between the SC and ST. If still any seat remains unfilled, the same will be left vacant. The seats reserved for the OBC are filled with the OBC candidates only. Only if OBC candidates possessing the minimum eligibility marks are not available in the OBC category then the vacant OBC seats will be converted into General Category seats in accordance with the admission schedule notified by the University.

    Wards or widows of the eligible armed forces personnel including Para Military forces having reservation of 5% of the seats in each course. Candidates can go through the following table to check the reservation of seats.

    Supernumerary seats for the PwD, CW and foreign nationals shall be as per the University of Delhi norms in the B.Ed. programme.

    1.The seat distribution corresponds to the first phase of enhancement of seats regarding EWS reservation (10% as per DU policy) for the year 2019 – 20 only.
    2.Stream-wise reservation within the stream to be calculated as per rules.
    3.Changes in numbers, if required under rules, may be made in the above–mentioned table in consonance with the University of Delhi directions.

    Ans. No, you are not eligible. As per the eligibility criteria candidate should hold atleast 55% marks in Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology and specialization in Science and Mathematics.

    Ques. What are the topics in DU B.Ed Entrance test?

    Ans. DU B.Ed Entrance test is divided into three parts- GK & Reasoning, Subject Knowledge at School, Language proficiency (English or Hindi).
