NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
GATE CCMT and GATE COAP counselling process are conducted every year for admission into NITs and IITs respectively. All the GATE qualifying candidates have to apply separately for CCMT and COAP. All the offers related to admission will be made on these platforms only and candidates will also get the opportunity to accept, reject or hold the offers.

For participating in admission rounds of M.Tech in IITs, candidates have to register online at GATE COAP.

NOTE: State Universities M.Tech Admission through GATE: Post declaration of GATE result, state universities, and other private institutes will conduct GATE counselling for admission to M.Tech programs. Candidates are advised to visit the respective website of the institutes to get more information.
Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) provides a common platform for the candidate to make the most preferred choice for admission into M.Tech Programmes through GATE in participating institutions (IISc & IITs). Admission offers for M Tech programmes of IISc for all the above disciplines and also for M.Des. (from GATE stream) will be made on COAP. Candidates will have to register on COAP and must update the COAP registration number on Applicant’s Interface. All the regular students (except M.Mgt) who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/AICTE/ DAE (NBHM) depending upon their mode of entry. IISc provides MHRD scholarship for selected students whose mode of entry is not through any of the above agencies. Many other Universities also use GATE Scorecard as a parameter for seat allotment in postgraduate courses offered by them. Here we are providing you with the preferred colleges for pursuing M.E./M.Tech other than IITs and NITs.
Admission to these institutes can be sought after applying separately for each of them. Different Universities will release their eligibility criteria and schedule for admission.
Ques. Who will conduct GATE 2021 counselling?
Ans. There is no common counselling process for GATE 2021; students have to apply separately for admissions in different institutions through COAP (for IITs) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs and CFTIs). You have to apply separately for the institutes in which you want to take admission for their counselling process.
Ques. How can I apply for the counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs?
Ans. The counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs is conducted by CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/MArch). You can register on the official website of CCMT i.e. ccmt.nic.in. The registration window will open from April 29, 2020.
Ques. When will the registrations for CCMT start?
Ans. The registrations for CCMT 2021 will start in the month of June 2021. You have to apply online for the CCMT counselling process. After that candidates have to report at their respective reporting centers for the admission process.
Ques. What is the last date for registration for CCMT?
Ans. Last date for registration for CCMT 2021 will be notified on official wesite. After this date you will not be able to apply for the admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs. Candidates are advised to visit the official website of CCMT i.e. ccmt.nic.in.
Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for CCMT?
Ans. For applying for CCMT a candidate must have a valid GATE score of 2019/2020/2021. Other than this, general and OBC candidates should have a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks must be acquired in the qualifying exam.
Ques. Is there any relaxation in the eligibility criterion of CCMT for SC/ST candidates?
Ans. Yes, there is a relaxation in the qualifying exam criterion for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, they should have a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks in the qualifying exam.
Ques. What is the registration fee for CCMT?
Ans. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 2200/- for General and OBC candidates. Yes, there is a relaxation in fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 1700/- for them. You can submit the registration fee only through SBI MOPS (i.e., Net banking/Credit Card / Debit Card or e-Challan at any branch of SBI).
Ques. How will I be allotted seat under CCMT?
Ans. The seats will be allotted on the basis of the ranks in GATE. CCMT Admission Process includes 3 steps:

Ques. What is meant by Floating option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for all preferred choices, he can select Floating option.
Ques. What is meant by Sliding option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for higher preferred choice only within the institute allotted, then he can choose sliding option.
Ques. What is meant by freezing option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to accept the allotted institute, then he can choose freezing option.
Ques. What is Seat Acceptance Fee?
Ans. It is the fee collected when the candidate accepts the seat allotted to him/her. It is a part of the Institute fee, which is adjusted against the finally allotted Institute’s admission fee. Before coming to Reporting Center, the candidates have to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee i.e. ₹ 20,000/- for all Categories.
Ques. What is Seat Confirmation Fee?
Ans. It is the fee that is charged after the candidate has finally accepted the seat. The Seat Confirmation Fee is ₹10, 000/- for all Categories.
Ques. What is NSR and What is the eligibility criterion for NSR round?
Ans. After the completion of 3 rounds of CCMT counselling, the National Spot Round (NSR) is conducted for all the vacant seats. The eligibility criterion for NSR is as follows-
Ques. What is NSR Participation Fee?
Ans. The NSR Fee for Gen/OBC candidates is ₹ 42,200/- (₹ 40,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 2200/- Registration fee) while for SC/ST/PwD candidates, it is ₹ 11,700/- (₹ 10,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 1700/- Registration fee).
