NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
CCMT and COAP will conduct the counselling process for GATE 2020. All the GATE qualifying candidates will have to apply separately for CCMT and COAP after the declaration of result.
COAP, Common Offer Acceptance Portal will carry the admission procedure for IITs. Candidates have to apply to individual institutes of their choice and also need to register for COAP. Read: GATE IIT Counselling
CCMT, Centralized Counselling for M.Tech will carry the admission procedure for M.Tech programs offered in NITs, IIITs. GFTIs and CFTIs. To get admission to these institutes you have to register for CCMT. Read: GATE CCMT Counselling
GATE 2020 Counselling will start in the first week of April 2020. State and private universities will have their own counselling process based on GATE scores. Please note that conducting body will not organize any counselling process for M.Tech admissions.

All the regular students (except M.Mgt) who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/AICTE/ DAE (NBHM) depending upon their mode of entry. For participating in CCMT, candidates have to apply online after the declaration of result. Candidates can apply for all the 30 NITs and 9 CFTIs through GATE CCMT Counselling.
This year SVNIT Surat is organizing CCMT 2020 for GATE qualifying candidates. Participating Institutes will act as Reporting Centers.

By now, for participating in admission rounds of M.Tech in IITs, candidates have to register online at GATE COAP.
Post declaration of GATE result, state universities and other private institutes will conduct GATE counselling for admission to MTech programs.
Many other Universities also use GATE Scorecard as a parameter for seat allotment in postgraduate courses offered by them. Here we are providing you with the preferred colleges for pursuing M.E./M.Tech after IITs and NITs.

At the time of counselling, candidates would be required to carry the following documents:
Ques. Who will conduct GATE 2020 counselling?
Ans. There is no common counselling process for GATE 2020; students have to apply separately for admissions in different institutions through COAP (for IITs) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs and CFTIs). You have to apply separately for the institutes in which you want to take admission for their counselling process.
Ques. How can I apply for the counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs?
Ans. The counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs is conducted by CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/MArch). You can register on the official website of CCMT i.e. ccmt.nic.in.
Ques. When will the registrations for CCMT start?
Ans. The registrations for CCMT will tentatively start from 10th April 2020. You have to apply online for the CCMT counselling process.
Ques. What is the last date for registration for CCMT?
Ans. You can register for CCMT up to May 14, 2020. After this date you will not be able to apply for the admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs.
Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for CCMT?
Ans. For applying for CCMT a candidate must have a valid GATE score of 2016/2017/2020. Other than this, general and OBC candidates should have a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks must be acquired in qualifying exam.
Ques. Is there any relaxation in the eligibility criterion of CCMT for SC/ST candidates?
Ans. Yes, there is a relaxation in the qualifying exam criterion for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, they should have a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks in the qualifying exam.
Ques. What is the registration fee for General and OBC candidate for CCMT?
Ans. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 2200/- for General and OBC candidates.
Ques. I am a candidate from SC category, is there any fee relaxation for me?
Ans. Yes, there is a relaxation in fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 1700/- for them.
Ques. How can I submit my registration fee for CCMT?
Ans. You can submit the registration fee only through SBI MOPS (i.e., Net banking/Credit Card / Debit Card or e-Challan at any branch of SBI).
Ques. How will I be allotted seat under CCMT?
Ans. The seats will be allotted on the basis of the ranks in GATE 2020.
Ques. The CCMT process is conducted in how many rounds?
Ans. The process will consist of 3 rounds wherein you can accept, reject seats.
Ques. What is meant by Floating option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for all preferred choices, he can select Floating option.
Ques. What is meant by Sliding option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for higher preferred choice only within the institute allotted, then he can choose sliding option.
Ques. What is meant by freezing option in the counselling?
Ans. If a candidate wishes to accept the allotted institute, then he can choose freezing option.
Ques. What is Seat Acceptance Fee?
Ans. It is the fee collected when the candidate accepts the seat allotted to him/her. It is a part of the Institute fee, which is adjusted against the finally allotted Institute’s admission fee. Before coming to Reporting Center, the candidates have to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee i.e. ₹ 20,000/- for all Categories.
Ques. What is Seat Confirmation Fee?
Ans. It is the fee that is charged after the candidate has finally accepted the seat. The Seat Confirmation Fee is ₹10, 000/- for all Categories.
Ques. What is NSR?
Ans. After the completion of 3 rounds of CCMT counselling, the National Spot Round (NSR) is conducted for all the vacant seats.
Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for NSR round?
Ans. The eligibility criterion for NSR is as follows-
All the candidates who have taken the withdrawal or not reported to any centre in earlier rounds for document verification or allotted institute for final admission.
Candidates whose allotted seat is canceled in earlier rounds due to non-fulfillments of any criteria but still they fulfill eligibility requirement for admission.
All eligible candidates who did not register for earlier three rounds i.e. fresh candidates.
Ques. When will be the vacancies for NSR declared?
Ans. The vacancy declaration for NSR is expected on July 04, 2020.
Ques. What is NSR Participation Fee?
Ans. The NSR Fee for Gen/OBC candidates is ₹ 42,200/- (₹ 40,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 2200/- Registration fee) while for SC/ST/PwD candidates, it is ₹ 11,700/- (₹ 10,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 1700/- Registration fee).
Ques. I want to take admission in IISc Bangalore, what is the process for that?
Ans. You can apply for the separate process for admission in IISc Bangalore which will start from 1st February 2020. The admission is based on the GATE score card and you must possess a minimum of second class in the qualifying exam.
Ques. What is the last date for applying in IISc Bangalore?
Ans. The last date is March 26, 2020.
Ques. How can I apply the counselling process for admission in IITs?
Ans. For the counselling process of IITs, a candidate will have to register on GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP).
Ques. Do I need to separately apply for M.Tech in the IIT in addition to registration on GATE COAP portal?
Ans. Yes, you have to apply both at IIT and the portal in order to ensure your seat in IITs.
