    CCMT and COAP will conduct the counselling process for GATE 2020. All the GATE qualifying candidates will have to apply separately for CCMT and COAP after the declaration of result.

    COAP, Common Offer Acceptance Portal will carry the admission procedure for IITs. Candidates have to apply to individual institutes of their choice and also need to register for COAP. Read: GATE IIT Counselling

    CCMT, Centralized Counselling for M.Tech will carry the admission procedure for M.Tech programs offered in NITs, IIITs. GFTIs and CFTIs. To get admission to these institutes you have to register for CCMT. Read: GATE CCMT Counselling

    GATE 2020 Counselling will start in the first week of April 2020. State and private universities will have their own counselling process based on GATE scores. Please note that conducting body will not organize any counselling process for M.Tech admissions.

    IISc Counselling

    IISc Bangalore Admission through GATE

    IISc Bangalore will release the application form in February 2020. The last date to apply for M.Tech admissions at IISc Bangalore via GATE will be in March 2020. Read More About IISc Bangalore Admission through GATE 2020:

    • Based on GATE scores and certain eligibility criteria defined by IISc Bangalore, the admission rounds take place. 
    • Candidates possessing a minimum of the second class in the following degrees are eligible to apply for admission in Research Programs (PhD/MTech)-
    • 70% weight will be given GATE 2020 score and 30% weight will be given to written test or personal interview.

    GATE Counselling

    All the regular students (except M.Mgt) who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/AICTE/ DAE (NBHM) depending upon their mode of entry. IISc provides MHRD scholarship for selected students whose mode of entry is not through any of the above agencies.     CCMT Counselling

    CCMT 2020 Counselling 

    For participating in CCMT, candidates have to apply online after the declaration of result. Candidates can apply for all the 30 NITs and 9 CFTIs through GATE CCMT Counselling. 

    Features of CCMT 2020

    This year SVNIT Surat is organizing CCMT 2020 for GATE qualifying candidates. Participating Institutes will act as Reporting Centers.

    • Candidates have to report to these centers during the seat allotment process (after any round).
    • There they have to pay the Seat Confirmation fee and another fee along with other necessary formalities.
    • All National Spot Round Registered Candidates will have to visit any Reporting center for the document verification process.

    CCMT Eligibility

    • Candidates must have valid GATE score
    • A minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks must be acquired in the qualifying exam (For General and OBC). 
    • For SC/ST/PwD category candidates, the eligibility is set at a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks.

    CCMT 2020 Admission Process

    Pre - Allotment Process

    • Register on the Official portal of CCMT between April 10 – May 11, 2020 (tentatively)
    • The registration fee for CCMT is INR 2200 for OC/OB and INR 1700 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
    • Fill the correct and verifiable information during registration and choice filling process.
    • You can change, reorder, delete or add programmes or institutes as per your preference.

    Seat Allotment

    • Candidates Will be allotted seats on the basis of the ranks in GATE 2020.
    • Those who have been allotted seats have to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee of INR 20000 through online mode.
    • Thereafter, report at any one of the reporting centers on the given date.
    • Candidates have to produce the original documents for verification.

    Getting Admitted To ‘Allotted Institute’

    • All the candidates who have been allotted seats and reported at any Reporting Centers during any of the three rounds (i.e. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round) have to complete the provisional seat confirmation process by paying ‘Seat Confirmation Fee’ (10,000) on the given date.
    • The balance fee with respect to allotted institutes has to be paid to the respective allotted Institute at the time of physical reporting (after 3rd round of allotment and internal sliding) at the allotted institute.
    • The tentative fee of all PIs is displayed on CCMT website.

    CCMT 2020 Dates

    For participating in CCMT follow the below-mentioned calendar of CCMT 2020 dates for the admission process in NITs or CFTIs. The process will begin from the release of the brochure followed by the application process, 3 rounds of seat allotment and result declaration.

    COAP Counselling

    IITs M.Tech Admission through GATE 2020 (COAP)

    By now, for participating in admission rounds of M.Tech in IITs, candidates have to register online at GATE COAP.

    • It is a common platform where all the participating IITs will upload admission offer letters in the common time window.
    • Based on GATE scores and applications submitted by candidates, COAP will offer admission. 
    • Candidates seeking M.Tech admissions (and also applied) in any of the participating Institutes of COAP and who have a valid GATE score can register at COAP.
    • GATE conducting body will not organize any counselling program.

    NOTE: State Universities M.Tech Admission through GATE

    Post declaration of GATE result, state universities and other private institutes will conduct GATE counselling for admission to MTech programs.

    Documents Required during Counselling

    At the time of counselling, candidates would be required to carry the following documents:

    • Class 10th certificate and mark sheet
    • Class 12th certificate and mark sheet
    • Graduation mark sheet of all the semester

    • EWS Certificate (if applicable)
    • GATE Admit Card

    GATE Counselling 2020 FAQs

    Ques. Who will conduct GATE 2020 counselling?

    Ans. There is no common counselling process for GATE 2020; students have to apply separately for admissions in different institutions through COAP (for IITs) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs and CFTIs). You have to apply separately for the institutes in which you want to take admission for their counselling process.

    Ques. How can I apply for the counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs?

    Ans. The counselling process for admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs is conducted by CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/MArch). You can register on the official website of CCMT i.e. 

    Ques. When will the registrations for CCMT start?

    Ans. The registrations for CCMT will tentatively start from 10th April 2020. You have to apply online for the CCMT counselling process. 

    Ques. What is the last date for registration for CCMT?

    Ans. You can register for CCMT up to May 14, 2020. After this date you will not be able to apply for the admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs. 

    Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for CCMT?

    Ans. For applying for CCMT a candidate must have a valid GATE score of 2016/2017/2020. Other than this, general and OBC candidates should have a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks must be acquired in qualifying exam.

    Ques. Is there any relaxation in the eligibility criterion of CCMT for SC/ST candidates?

    Ans. Yes, there is a relaxation in the qualifying exam criterion for SC/ST/PwD category candidates, they should have a minimum of 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

    Ques. What is the registration fee for General and OBC candidate for CCMT?

    Ans. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 2200/- for General and OBC candidates.

    Ques. I am a candidate from SC category, is there any fee relaxation for me?

    Ans. Yes, there is a relaxation in fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates. The registration fee for CCMT is Rs. 1700/- for them.

    Ques. How can I submit my registration fee for CCMT?

    Ans. You can submit the registration fee only through SBI MOPS (i.e., Net banking/Credit Card / Debit Card or e-Challan at any branch of SBI).

    Ques. How will I be allotted seat under CCMT?

    Ans. The seats will be allotted on the basis of the ranks in GATE 2020.

    Ques. The CCMT process is conducted in how many rounds?

    Ans. The process will consist of 3 rounds wherein you can accept, reject seats.

    Ques. What is meant by Floating option in the counselling?

    Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for all preferred choices, he can select Floating option.

    Ques. What is meant by Sliding option in the counselling?

    Ans. If a candidate wishes to be considered for the next round for higher preferred choice only within the institute allotted, then he can choose sliding option.

    Ques. What is meant by freezing option in the counselling?

    Ans. If a candidate wishes to accept the allotted institute, then he can choose freezing option.

    Ques. What is Seat Acceptance Fee?

    Ans. It is the fee collected when the candidate accepts the seat allotted to him/her. It is a part of the Institute fee, which is adjusted against the finally allotted Institute’s admission fee. Before coming to Reporting Center, the candidates have to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee i.e. ₹ 20,000/- for all Categories.

    Ques. What is Seat Confirmation Fee?

    Ans. It is the fee that is charged after the candidate has finally accepted the seat. The Seat Confirmation Fee is ₹10, 000/- for all Categories.

    Ques. What is NSR?

    Ans. After the completion of 3 rounds of CCMT counselling, the National Spot Round (NSR) is conducted for all the vacant seats.

    Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for NSR round?

    Ans. The eligibility criterion for NSR is as follows-

    All the candidates who have taken the withdrawal or not reported to any centre in earlier rounds for document verification or allotted institute for final admission.

    Candidates whose allotted seat is canceled in earlier rounds due to non-fulfillments of any criteria but still they fulfill eligibility requirement for admission.

    All eligible candidates who did not register for earlier three rounds i.e. fresh candidates.

    Ques. When will be the vacancies for NSR declared?

    Ans. The vacancy declaration for NSR is expected on July 04, 2020.

    Ques. What is NSR Participation Fee?

    Ans. The NSR Fee for Gen/OBC candidates is ₹ 42,200/- (₹ 40,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 2200/- Registration fee) while for SC/ST/PwD candidates, it is ₹ 11,700/- (₹ 10,000/- NSR Participation fee + ₹ 1700/- Registration fee).

    Ques. I want to take admission in IISc Bangalore, what is the process for that?

    Ans. You can apply for the separate process for admission in IISc Bangalore which will start from 1st February 2020. The admission is based on the GATE score card and you must possess a minimum of second class in the qualifying exam.

    Ques. What is the last date for applying in IISc Bangalore?

    Ans. The last date is March 26, 2020.

    Ques. How can I apply the counselling process for admission in IITs?

    Ans. For the counselling process of IITs, a candidate will have to register on GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP).

    Ques. Do I need to separately apply for M.Tech in the IIT in addition to registration on GATE COAP portal?

    Ans. Yes, you have to apply both at IIT and the portal in order to ensure your seat in IITs.

    Ques. When will the COAP Registration start?

    Ans. The registration process for COAP is expected to start from the second week of May 2020.

    Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for COAP?

    Ans. The eligibility criterion is as follows-

    • A candidate must have a valid GATE score card of 2016/2017/2020.
    • A candidate fulfils the criterion of respective IITs.
    • A candidate must have applied at the COAP portal.

    Ques. COAP will be conducted in how many rounds?

    Ans. COAP will have four rounds.

    Ques. What is the process for admission in state universities for M.Tech?

    Ans. All the state universities and other private institutes will conduct individual GATE counselling for admission to M.Tech programs after the declaration of results.

    Ques. What are the important documents required at the time of GATE counselling?

    Ans. Following is the list of all important documents required at the time of GATE counselling-

    • Provisional seat allotment letter.
    • Self-Attested Copy of GATE Score Card (2016 or 2017 or 2020)

    For M.Tech. Admission, candidate should visit respective participating Institute(s) application portal and apply as per their choice.Candidate should also register at COAP to access the offers (if any) made by participating Institute(s).

    Sir, i have done my Aeronautical engineering from Karnataka state open university which is UGC approved but not AICTE approved. If i score a good rank in GATE can i get admission in top colleges like IITs or my degree not being AICTE approved is going to be a problem for me?

    Hi Kamlesh, there are ways to get admission to M. Tech Courses without appearing in GATE exam. You may apply for the admission under any of the category mentioned below:

    1. Sponsored Candidates: If you are working in some industry for more than three years and can prove that your employer agrees to allow you to pursue the course by letters from authority, you may apply under this category.
    1. Quality Improvement Program (QIP): This is started by Govt. of India to improve the quality of teaching staff in state colleges by giving them a chance to attend India’s top most engineering schools. All the faculty members having three years or plus experiences are eligible for this.
    1. Admission to Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs): They conduct their own exam for the admission. You may apply and try to get admission for Master of Engineering. These colleges are deemed universities and have good infrastructure and placements.
