PSU Recruitment through GATE: Apart from admissions in M.Tech/Ph.D. courses, the scores of GATE are used by various PSUs to recruit engineers for executive posts. More than 50 PSUs including IOCL, ONGC, NTPC will recruit eligible applicants through GATE 2020 this year.

Why apply for PSU through GATE?
There are many reasons why many GATE aspirants prefer applying to PSUs through GATE. A few of them are enlisted below-
GATE scores cannot be manipulated and the shortlisting through GATE score is anticipated, to be honest.

How to apply for PSUs through GATE?

Airport Authority of India (AAI) hires candidates on the basis of GATE score.

Those with full-time regular bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Civil/Electrical/Electronics with minimum 60% marks from a recognized/deemed university will be eligible.

Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) hires Engineer Trainee through GATE score.
The application forms for BHEL recruitment through GATE will be out in February 2020.
The number of vacancies for BHEL recruitment through GATE 2020 is expected to be 50. The basic pay scale of Engineer Trainee is Rs. 20,600 – 46,500 in training period which increases to Rs. 24900 – 50,500 after completing the probation.

Cabinet Secretariat recruits candidates on the basis of GATE score for various posts such as Senior Research Officer (Crypto), Senior Research Officer (S&T) and Senior Field Officer (Tele).
The application forms by Cabinet Secretariat are expected to release in April 2020.
In the selection process of Cabinet Secretariat recruitment through GATE, personal interview carries 25% weightage.
Candidates have to secure at least 40% marks in an interview to be eligible to get shortlisted.

Delhi Development Authority recruits Management Trainee on the basis of GATE Score. Application form for the DDA Recruitment through GATE is expected to release in March 2020 after the declaration of GATE Results.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will recruit the graduate engineers for the post of Scientist ‘B’ on the basis of GATE scores.
The application forms are tentative to be available in March/April 2018.
Apart from GATE scores, candidates will be shortlisted on their performance of Personal Interview conducted by DRDO.

HPCL Recruitment through GATE
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited recruits candidates on the basis of GATE score. The application form for HPCL through GATE will starts from January 10 – February 10, 2018. The basic pay which candidate will get Rs.24900 – Rs.50500/- per month.
Application Date: January 10 – February 10, 2018
Basic Pay: Rs. 24900 – Rs. 50500/- per month
Application Fee: Rs. Two hundred sixty-five for general category candidates and SC/ST/PwD are exempted from paying a fee.
L&T recruits engineers on the basis of GATE score under the Build India Scholarship. The candidate will get Rs.9000 and after that completion of training, the employee CTC will be 5 lakh per annum.
Eligible Streams: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering
WBSEDCL Recruitment through GATE
WBSEDCL (West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company recruits eligible candidates to the post of Assistant Engineer.
Apart from Electrical and Civil, WBSEDCL will recruit candidates from IT and Computer stream as well.
The candidates with a B.Tech degree in Electrical, Civil, IT and Computer Engineering from a recognized university or appearing for the same are eligible to apply for the post.
Candidates have to qualify GATE Exam with the marks equivalent to or more than the minimum GATE Cutoff marks.
The application process for WBSEDCL is expected to begin after January 05, 2018.

Vacancies: 58 (Electrical), 38 (Civil) and 17 (IT&C)
RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigam Limited) recruits Site Engineers through GATE Scores. Candidates have to clear the GATE Exam with marks more than or equal to the GATE Cutoff marks. The candidates can submit their applications to the PSU according to the dates set for their region.
Application Date: December 12, 2016 (Northern, Central and Western), December 30, 2016 (Eastern region) and January 14, 2018 (Southern region)
PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) recruits candidates for the post of Assistant Engineer (on training) through the scores obtained in GATE 2018.
Candidates have to pass or appearing in B.tech program or B.Sc. in the related field are eligible to apply.
The candidate must not be less than 20 years and not more than 37 years to apply for this post through PSPCL.
ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited) selects candidates through GATE 2020 for the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Geologist, Chemist, Geophysicist, Material Management Officer, Programming Officer, and Transport Officer.
The candidates can apply for the PSU through online applications.
Candidates with B.Tech degree in the related streams are eligible to apply

HPU recruitment through GATE
Haryana Power Utilities recruits engineering graduates for the post Assistant Engineers on the basis of GATE score.
Candidates can apply for the HPU through GATE in the month of April, 2018.
Candidates must be from Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science and Civil Engineering Branch.
National Textile Corporation recruits engineer graduate on the basis of GATE score. The Application Fee for applying NTC is Rs.300. The Notification for NTC though GATE will release in month of June, 2018.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will now recruit engineer graduates as Junior Telecom Officers on the basis of GATE score. BSNL JTO will recruit for the 2510 vacancies.
NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) will hire candidates for the post of Site Engineer through GATE 2018. The candidates don’t have to pay any application fee to apply for the post. The academic qualification required for the post is B.Tech degree in the required discipline. The maximum age limit for the recruitment to this post is 35 years.
Eligible streams: Mechanical Engineering (ME), Geology and Geophysics (GG)
IPR recruitment through GATE
IPR (Institute of Plasma Research) recruits various eligible and qualified candidates for the post of Technical Trainees on the basis of the scores obtained in GATE 2018.
The candidates have to submit the online applications released by IPR to register for the recruitment process of GATE.
Candidate must be a B.Tech graduate or M.Sc. Physics student or must have passed the specified programme.
The application fee has to be paid through online mode only.
PSTCL (Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited) hires candidates on the basis of the GATE Score for the post of On-Training Assistant Manager and Assistant Manager IT.
The candidates must have passed or must be appearing for B.Tech/ B.E. / B.Sc. Engineering in the related stream.
An application fee of INR 400-INR 1000 (depending on the category) along with the online application form released by PSTCL has to be paid

CIL recruitment through GATE
CIL (Coal India Limited) carries out the recruitment for the post of Management Trainee (MT) through scores obtained in GATE.
The official notification is yet to be released.
Candidates must have cleared or been in the final year of the B.Tech programme in the related stream to apply for the CIL recruitment through GATE 2018.
The upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years.
The applications must be submitted in time along with application fee of INR 750 (INR 1500 for other category candidates).
DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation) hires qualified candidates for the post of Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET).
The candidates must be less than 29 years to apply for the DVC recruitment through GATE 2018.
The minimum academic qualification required for recruitment to the post offered by DVC is B.Tech degree from a recognized university in the related discipline.
The application fee is INR 500 which must be submitted along with the application form in the stipulated time to be called for the further process. The application forms will be available online once the notification is released.
Based on GATE scores and GATE cut off, DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited) recruits graduate engineers for the post of Junior Engineers and Assistant Managers.
The application forms for the DMRC recruitment through GATE are anticipated to be released soon.
The application fee for the DMRC recruitment through GATE application form is INR 400. The other criteria for eligibility and selection would be mentioned in the official notification.

Depending upon the selection criteria followed by PSU, a candidate should obtain a valid GATE Score or GATE PSU Cut Off to be shortlisted for the further selection process. Marks obtained in GATE (out of 100) and GATE Scores (out of 1000) are two different entities. GATE cut off is calculated on marks obtained in the exam.
